HILMI AND NADIA CAME VISITING

Two ex-students who were in my tuition class many years ago dropped by for a short visit. Formerly from SMK Kempas, it was amazing how we still keep in touch up until now, especially Hilmi. He is now doing his master degree in USM while Nadia teaches at his old school. Next time, do come earlier so we can chat longer. Or perhaps, Hilmi, am I going to see you in Penang after this?

OF A BIRTHDAY PARTY AND MOTHERS' DAY CELEBRATION

Got a phone call in the afternoon for a small celebration at Puan Maznah's house. When I arrived at about 6:15, there were many people already. There were two celebrations in one, birthday for the small ones and Mothers' Day for the mothers present. Thanks for inviting, thank God for the joyous event after a long weekend. We had a replacement class on Saturday, the day before so at least the week was ended in a happy note.

ATTENDING SYAFIQ'S SISTER'S WEDDING

ghazal performance

focus on the table centre piece

with Syafiq

Today I went to another wedding, not of an ex-student's but his sister's. It was always a pleasure to see Mohd, Syafiq Mastor again after quite some time. He sure has grown much taller than the last time we met. Hope we can meet again some other time. The case is either absence makes the heart grows fonder OR out of sight, out of mind.

HAVING (A LONG OVERDUE) TEA AT KFC

This was something that I should do three years ago, but procrastination was the thief of time. Just wanted to thank Syazwan Kamaruddin for helping me carrying out the task of locking the grills every evening when he was in form 2. It was better late than never. School was dismissed earlier today (a replacement school day on a Saturday) and he was free. It was just a suitable time in a way as Syazwan is going to celebrate his 17th birthday tomorrow. So thanks a lot Syazwan for all your help and happy 17th birthday too.

MOVIE REVIEW 25 - THOR

The last time I watched a movie was during the recent Chinese New Year. With the publicity going on, I was looking forward to another superhero to emerge from the silver screen.

Alas, I was quite disappointed to find out that Thor was not a normal human being but was actually originated from another place which was associated with the gods and goddess - a fiction now got mixed up with the tales of myth and legend. It was my fault for not knowing the history of this Marvel superhero but there I was transformed to the world of magic and science blended into one. The secret of Thor's superpower: a hammer, that was all.

As usual, there were a lot of explosions, flames, thunders and lightnings with all the deafening sound effects which was a blessing as I was kept awake until the end. After watching the movie , I was quite sure the sequel will be coming soon to the cinema near you.

I should have watched other movies but there was not much choice actually. My next movie will be Kungfu Panda 2 which will be released at the end of this month.

LABOUR'S DAY OUTING

Thank god, someone asked me out for the labour's day weekend. Although it should be a long and relaxing weekend for everyone, mine was not. So, Mr. Zabidi an ex-student, and I went out for a late dinner at Kampung Melayu, followed by a movie at 12 midnight.

Thanks Mr. Zabidi, our next outing is to Bazaar Karat (of all the places in the world).

The angklung group members were invited to perform during Puan Nooraini's brother's wedding. It was a good chance to expose them as well as to get something for the club's fund. Luckily, only three of them could not make it despite the fact that today was one of the days of the long weekends. The weather was good, the food was good. The boys looked happy but they still needed a lot of practice. Someone was asking for my phone number, hopefully we would have the opportunity to go to someone's wedding again.
