ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF AN EX-COLLEAGUE'S CHILDREN IN TAMAN BUKIT INDAH

1ST NOVEMBER 2025    ~ An ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, Puan Suhana Suratman, held a wedding reception for his daughter and son simultaneously. The event for the two pairs of brides and grooms were held at the Community Hall at Taman Bukit Indah.

I had already expected to meet a few ex-colleagues in the hall but it turned out, there were a lot of friends who were present when I was there.

Mr. Ali Mustafa,
ex-colleague of SMK Gelang Patah

Mr. Nurji, ex-chief clerk of
SMK Mutiara Rini

There were a few ex-students as well. Actually, both Puan Suhana's newlyweds children are also the alumni of the same school.

The four of us are the pioneers of SMK Taman Universiti when it was opened on 1st December 1994.

Ms. Norashikin, Puan Suhana's younger
sister, my ex-student

Mr. Nizam, Puan Suhana's younger brother,
my SMS Muar junior

That was another reunion session for friends of SMK Taman Universiti that took place at a wedding reception and I believe there will be more gatherings to come in the future.

Congratulations to Puan Suhana on the addition of the two new members into the family. I think she will still have to hold similar events for her other kids in the coming years and may I be called again to join in.

STAYING AT SERI MALAYSIA HOTEL IN KEPALA BATAS FOR THE SECOND TIME

I chose to stay at Seri Malaysia Hotel in Kepala Batas for the second time on the 24th - 26th October 2025. For one thing, there was not much choice of accommodation available in town.

I was here for the first time last year, also when I went to attend a wedding reception of a friend's children in Kepala Batas [READ HERE].

I noticed the arrangement of the furniture in the lobby was no longer the same.

This time, another friend [of UPM TESL class of 1993], Puan Hanna Sheikh Mokhtar, her husband and daughter were also putting up the night there. We had our buffet breakfast at the hotel cafe before checking out.

There are possibilities I will be coming back to Kepala Batas a few more times in the future. I don't mind staying at Seri Malaysia again, unless there is going to be a brand new hotel coming up.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION OF AN ACQUAINTANCE'S DAUGHTER

I was invited by Puan Jamaliah Buang to the wedding reception of her daughter held in Rimbunan Wedding Event. It was my second time going to this place.

How am I connected to the mother of the bride? I regularly go to her Tupperware shop in Bandar Baru Uda to buy presents for ex-students' wedding receptions.

I thought I would not be seeing anyone that I knew at the event, but I was wrong. There was an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti who came with her wife and son.

Then I met Puan Nik Hasni, an English teacher who later became a Principal but has now retired. We used to be in the same group to mark  SPM Examination English Paper.

Then there was Mr. Ismail, another senior and retired English teacher.

It was very thoughtful of Puan Jamaliah to invite me and I had to attend the event as a token of appreciation.

I guess there will be more wedding receptions to be attended in the coming weeks of November and December.

THE LUNCH DATE WITH EX-SCHOOLMATES AT THE DANCING FISH

19th OCTOBER 2025 ~ A lunch date was with two besties from school [i.e. SMS Muar] when I was in Kuala Lumpur. The last time I met Puan Hafizah Mohd. Nor and Puan Adura Adnan was during the reception of the daughter of Puan Adura last month. [READ HERE AND HERE]

As usual, Puan Adura was the person who knew where to go for our regular meeting. This time the chosen venue was the Dancing Fish Restaurant located at Bangsar Shopping Centre which served Indonesian cuisine.

It was my first time at both the restaurant and shopping mall. My first impression was: "LUXURIOUS".

We were put in the dining spot which was separated from the main hall. It looked like a bird's nest and as it was secluded, this should be the place to gossip while enjoying the meal.

The first food that arrived at our table was the Keropok Belinjau, a type of vegetable crackers, that came together with Sambal Belacan. That came for free with the lunch set ordered.

NOTE: If you order the Barley drinks, you could get free flow of the beverage.

Salad, I think

Spring Rolls

Cendol for dessert

The food was great but we were ready for the next gastronomic adventure when I am back in Kuala Lumpur next time. Thanks again to my two friends for the short gathering session and we shall meet again soon.
