'TIS THE SEASON TO RECYCLE AGAIN

There was a need to send the accumulated recyclable items, and at the same time, SWM set up a drive through collection counter at Dataran Bandaraya. There was some sort of event going on.

Make hay while the sun shines. I drove to the venue at 5:30 p.m. and everything was successfully handed over and weighed on the spot. I had carried out my social responsibility in saving Mother Earth.

THE ACTIVITY AT JKM COMPLEX ONE FRIDAY MORNING

Someone important from Putrajaya visited the new Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat [Welfare Department] Building called Kompleks Penyayang, I was asked to conduct an English class with a group of girls who were the students of a religious school nearby for the Children's Activity Centre. It was an interesting slot as these people study in a different education system, which was focussing on Tahfiz [memorizing the Holy Qur'an] and Islamic studies. The first class was about getting to know them better and the students' responses throughout the session were positive.

The whole thing was over before 12:00 p.m. and I was there for less than 2 hours.

I am sure there were other photos taken during the visit but these are all that I managed to get from the Whatsapp group. Will update once more photos are posted.

WHEN EATING BURGER AND FRIES WAS NOT ENOUGH

20th SEPTEMBER 2025    ~ When eating burger and fries was enough for lunch [READ HERE], then it was time to get real food somewhere else. Thanks to Mr. Norazman for agreeing to go on another gastronomic adventure in the same day.

The restaurant visited this time was Q-Bistro located in Subang Jaya, which was not that far from the hotel where I was staying.

What a relief it was to get real food for the day.

As I was paying for the food at the counter, someone approached me and what a big surprise it was. My [UPM TESL] and her husband and daughter were also eating in that restaurant, hence an unplanned gathering took place. I had to prolong my stay in Q-Bistro and they even sent me back to the hotel. It's a small world after all.

THE BUFFET BREAKFAST WITH TESL FRIENDS IN KUANTAN

15TH SEPTEMBER 2025 ~ A small gathering with my UPM TESL friends [and their family members] took place in Kuantan. Mr. Ridwan [and his family] and I were staying in Megaview Hotel in town and we asked Puan Aunillah Hilmi [and husband] and Puan Suriana Ali, the two Kuantan people, to join us for the buffet breakfast at the hotel.

The food was decent but the presence of friends made the breakfast session a memorable one. It was a short gathering as Mr. Ridwan had to go back to Shah Alam, while Puan Aunillah, Puan Suriana and I were about to explore Pekan right after. There definitely would be more gastronomic adventures for me in Kuantan.

OPTING OUT FOR A SIMPLER GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE

20th SEPTEMBER 2025    ~ When you went to a few eating places during lunch hour and found that  all the seats were occupied, there was no choice but to just randomly choose a restaurant that could accommodate you [and your friend].

Eventually, Mr. Azman and I ended up in a Burger King outlet somewhere in Subang Jaya where there were many vacant seats available.

Even though the place was not crowded, it was a popular shop as we could see people coming in and out during our stay.

The gastronomic adventure was not that adventurous this time, but we left the place with happy tummies. However, we went for another round of adventure not long after that for real food.

REUNITED WITH AN EX-COLLEAGUE FROM TERENGGANU IN KUANTAN

14TH SEPTEMBER 2025    ~ When I was in Kuantan, I was contacted by an ex-colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, Mr. Ahmad Ridzuan Mohamad, who coincidentally was also in town. He was attending a family there somewhere nearby.

A coffee date was immediately set and we decided to meet up at 10:00 p.m. as we were both only free at that time.

We just settled for a cafe near the hotel where I was staying as the stretch of main road was heavily congested. The cafe was called 1940 and had the retro ambience of a coffee shop of the past.

We could not stay that long as it was getting late but the short chat session was definitely one memorable meeting. Thanks to my friend, Mr. Ahmad Ridzuan, for the time and company, and may we meet each other again, some other time and place.

IKAN CELUP TEPUNG [ICT] HUJUNG TANJUNG IN TANJUNG LUMPUR REVISITED

14th SEPTEMBER 2025   ~ After the feasts at the solemnization ceremony in Damansara in the morning [READ HERE] and the wedding reception in Kuantan after that in the afternoon [READ HERE], we still went on our gastronomic adventure.

Mr. Ridwan A. Wahid and Puan Suhaila Sulong, wanted to get their favourite Ikan Celup Tepung [Fried Flour Coated Fish] and Squid so we revisited ICT Hujung Tanjung in Tanjung Lumpur. The first time I came here was 29th June 2024 [READ HERE].

When we arrived at about 6:00 p.m., the place was already jam packed with diners. We were lucky to secure a seat without having to wait for people to finish eating and move away. It was raining cats and dogs while we were waiting for the order to be ready, so people were stuck in the dining area.

The rain then stopped and the craving for ICT was sated, so it was time to get back to the hotel.

We actually stopped by at a Kuantan City Mall in the city, and that was when I met Puan Siti Bahriah Sarbini, an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, and her husband. It's a small world after all.

My gastronomic adventure in Kuantan had not ended yet - there were still many more series to go.
