THE AMAZING CHATUCHAK MARKET IN BANGKOK - PART 1

19th October ~ Chatuchak Market is recognized as one of the biggest weekends markets in the world, at least by Lonely Planet. We had to plan to come here on this very exact that as it is only operational on weekends.

My verdict: the market too big and the visitors too many. Unless you have something specific to buy, then you would have a hard time deciding as every local Thai product looked too tempting. We just spent our time walking and looking around and we did not even cover half of the market area.

The market is actually divided into many sections, each section selling similar item. You could get a brochure which contains a map of the market to ease your movement around. We got ours from one of the food vendors when we were asking where we could get halal food.

BANGKOK'S TEMPLE HOPPING TRIP - WAT PHO

19th October 2014 ~ The next temple that we visited was Wat Pho which required us to cross the river one more time, Thank god, there were no more climbing activity here. The main attraction of this place was the huge reclining Buddha statue.

The passageway was small and there were many people so it was quite difficult to get a good photo of the reclining statue without anyone in the background.

As we were about to explore the compound of the temple to observe the colourful architectural wonders, it started to rain. The stay at the temple had to be shortened but we were glad to be there at one of the must-visit spots in Bangkok.

MOIVE REVIEW - "THE BOOK OF LIFE"

5th November 2014 ~ I had an appointment at the Surgical Clinic of Sultanah Aminah Hospital. Lucky enough I was given a medical certificate and it was quite late to go to school. I decided to watch a movie or else I would sure sleep in the afternoon (and furthermore it rained quite heavily while I was in the cinema.

I simply picked an animation entitled "The Book of Life" with no expectation at all. I had been eyeing this cartoon actually but the movie was only screened in the afternoon. Since it was Wednesday afternoon, there were only 11 people watching and I was the only one munching popcorn. I couldn't hear any other people eating at that time.

And how was it? Surprise! Surprise! This was actually a movie that was beautifully done, both the animation and the story line which was adapted from a Mexican folklore. The values of love, courage and friendship, family love and good versus evil - all was well-blended in the story-telling and narration, and the soundtracks (that I know of) were all contemporary.

I am going to buy the original DVD when it is out in the market. I do not mind watching this movie again.

You all better go watch this movie before it is too late. Trust me, it is more enjoyable than "Annabelle".

BANGKOK'S TEMPLE HOPPING TRIP - WAT ARUN

19th October ~ We had to climb up stairs in Wat Arun to enjoy the temple to the fullest. The temple was located across the river, so we had to take a boat to get to a pier and took another one to cross Chao Phraya River. Not to worry, the boat fare was cheap.

PRECAUTION: The steps of the stairs to get up to a higher point of the temple were small and steep, and I would not recommend old folks or hyperactive kids to climb as it would pose some danger. However, it was worth the effort as we got to see Bangkok from a higher level and many tourists and locals seemed excited to successfully climb up the stairs. Ain't no mountains high enough.

The temple was ancient but beautiful. Luckily, there was not a large crowd in the morning like what we saw at the Grand Palace the day before so we got to enjoy the view peacefully.

NEXT POST: Another temple, Wat Pho.

VIDEO - THAI CULTURAL SHOW - PART 1

The first dance performed at Siam Niramit outside the theatre. This was to entertain the visitors while waiting for the door to the hall to be opened. And this was not the only one. Do come back for more.
