THERE IS ALWAYS A SECOND TIME FOR LAKSA JANGGUS

25th FEBRUARY 2024    ~ To complete our gastronomic adventure in Penang this time, Mr. Ridwan took Puan Suhaila, his daughter and I to Laksa Janggus stall again in Balik Pulau.

There were still many people eating at about 5:00 p.m., suggesting this place as a popular eating spot on the island.

We had the must-haves Laksa Penang and Fried Bananas with sesame seeds.

That should conclude my short trip to Kulim and Penang in February 2024. Thank you again Mr. Ridwan Wahid, for giving me a lift, driving me here and there, when I was in Penang.

I will be coming back again at the end of May. 😊

MEETING THE SENIOR IN COLLEGE IN BANGI

26TH APRIL 2024 ~ When in Bangi, the person I always try to get reconnected would be a senior in Universiti Pertanian Malaysia [UPM]. I guess he was the only one that I was still keeping in touch with, at least once in a while. Mr. Hashim Hassan was already in his final year when I was still doing my second year matriculation. I got to know him as we were staying in the same residential college i.e. Fourth College.

We went to this restaurant called Izgara. It looked like a place serving Arab food. There were still many people at 9:00 p.m. and we only managed to secure a table outside. The chatting was done over supper of Shawarma and Tea/Coffee.

Thanks a lot Mr. Hashim for the time and company. Looking forward to seeing you again some other time in the future.

THE 26TH DAY OF EID 1445H

Today, a group of ex-colleagues teaching the secondary classes of SMK Dato' Jaafar came visiting for Eid. They stopped by right after work so that should explain the uniforms they were wearing.

This was not their first time coming to my house to celebrate Eid, except for three people.

Thank you everybody for coming over. Looking forward to welcome them again for many more Eids to come.

REUNITED AFTER 38 YEARS OVER BRUNCH AT BUKIT JELUTONG

2nd MAY 2024 ~ Two ex-schoolmates of SMS Muar were reunited after 38 years in Bukit Jelutong, Shah Alam. The reunion took place over brunch at this place called Breakfast Room.

Mr. Sufrizal Azmi was also my ex-dormmate of Bestari V when we were in Form 4, but he was sent to another block the following year. We were also members of Set A for English Class during our two years stay at that Science school.

We had never met after we left school in 1986. Fortunately, we managed to see each other one more time after these years.

Thanks Mr. Sufrizal Azmi a.k.a Sufi for fetching me at Subang Airport, taking me for brunch and giving me a treat, and then sending me to Ara Damansara LRT Station before we parted ways. Hopefully this meeting would not be the last one for us.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION OF THE SON OF AN EX-COLLEAGUE IN KUALA SELANGOR

I was invited by Puan Wan Nurul Afidah to the wedding reception of his son in Kuala Selangor. The event was held at One Plaza Ballroom in town. Puan Wan Nurul was an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti who moved to Selangor in 2007. We had not met since then, which is already 17 years.

The hall was huge and the food was aplenty. Hence, we had to spend longer time there as there was a lot of food to eat.

Thanks to Mr. Ridwan Wahid, a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993, who had taken the trouble to chauffeur me there and back, and to accompany me as well to the reception.

The only ex-colleague I met at the venue was Puan Aliah Hussein who was accompanied by an ex-student, Miss Rabiah.

Congratulations to Puan Wan Nurul Afidah on the addition of the new member into the family. Thank you for your kind thought of inviting me to the reception even though we had not been seeing each other for such a long time.

THE BOX OF HARUM MANIS MANGOES THAT ARRIVED TODAY

30th APRIL 2024    ~ A box of Haru Manis Mangoes was couriered to my house this afternoon even though I did not make any online purchase.

Fortunately I was informed beforehand by the dealer of the fruits the parcel came from Puan Fadhleena Mohamad, an ex-colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, who had transferred back to Kelantan. It could be either an Eid gift or a present for my retirement.

Thanks a lot Puan Fadhleena for the kind thought. May Allah repay your kind deed.
