A DINNER DATE WITH MR. MONITOR

This was just a short meeting with Ahmad Amsyar, the group representative of the English class I taught in UTM. It was just a dinner at McDonald's outlet in Skudai to thank him for all the assistance given throughout the semester. He sure was a helpful and responsible person and I was thankful that the classmates elected him as the class monitor. Thanks again Amsyar and may you succeed in the path you will chose (or have already chosen). Don't forget to invite me to play ping pong again next time.

By the way, to all the members of Section 58 of UHB1412 course, the overall marks for the course had been keyed in already. Good news: everybody passed! No worries, people and please enjoy your holidays.

GOING WESTERN FOR ONCE (AGAIN)

14th JANUARY ~ Someone was kind enough to give me a treat after working during the school holidays. While many was quite hesitant every time I tested the water, Azry straightaway asked "when" and "where". So never say "NO" for a free meal and great company.

The host finally chose Secret Recipe in Jusco Bukit Indah as we were going western this time. The food on the table was aplenty it seemed but the two slices of cake were FREE of charge as someone was using his Citibank card first before getting back the reimbursement. (Luckily we checked the promo catalogue on display for the offer).

At one time, I saw this one girl smiling gleefully from afar and I first thought she was about to lure me to buy the donuts. Actually she was an ex-student whom I taught when she was in form one and two (READ: famous); and that was a big relief I did not have to buy any donuts.

The outing was a brief one but please do not spend all the remaining money that you have Azry. We can go always go out again if time permits for another treat :). Thanks to Azry for the treat and not forgetting Asyraf for the fun time.

ANNUAL CROSS COUNTRY COMPETITION 2012

14th January ~ The first sports activity kicked off today. It was the annual cross country competition held on the second week of school. It was done earlier as the district level competition is going to be held next week.

The response was very good. Many students turned up to run across the country (which was actually a country) and the sun was shining brightly in the sky.

THE FIRST OPEN DAY FOR 2012

The first Open Day was held today. Only the remove, form one, form two and form four students and parents came to school to see the teachers, to discuss about the students' development in school for the year 2011. With this session, parents had more chance to consult the teachers, twice a year if compared to only once in the previous years.

Thanks to all the parents who had made the effort to come over. Their presence meant that they cared and the children should see and appreciate this.

MEETING THE PARENTS OF KAA CLASSES' STUDENTS

This activity was discussed and carried out on an ad hoc basis, mainly because it was really difficult to find a vacant Saturday for the programme. It was a briefing cum parenting talk to the parents as well as the students of KAA [special religious classes].

The response was overwhelming and the audience filled almost all the seats in the school hall. We expected a smaller crowd but the presence of many parents was a good sign to us teachers.

The briefing was mostly about what parents should know about this special class -such as the syllabus which is slightly different from mainstream students, what are expected of the KAA students, what are the possible opportunities that the students have in the future and how parents can play a role in assisting the students and teachers in learning, especially in Arabic Language.

All in all, even though the session was short, it was a fruitful one. Thanks and congratulations to all the students, teachers and parents who had gone the extra mile today. One day, we may reap what we had sown.
