6th AUGUST 2016 ~ Right outside Sultan Mosque, is the Kampong Glam, the old Malay village which is still not demolished, most probably for tourism. The old shop house buildings are preserved but I do not know whether the owners of the shops are still Malays or not. The so called village is actually a touristy place and souvenirs like fridge magnets, t-shirts, key chains and mugs are found in abundance.
Kampung Glam is still very much recognized the spot for Malay community and at the same time, the Sultan Mosque has been the centre for Islamic activities in Singapore. Anyway, you could not find a typical Malay village house here, just the shops and with Chinese/British architechture.
