MY 200th POSTING - RUBBISH, RUBBISH ALL AROUND

The madness of collecting and bringing used paper, boxes, newspapers, books, anything made of paper - you named it, you got it, continued right until the fourth day. I never expected the respond to be this huge. A few classes had been bringing the materials for four consecutive days.

The main reason for their enthusiasm is because of the prize money that has been promised. There were also parents who came to school with carloads of paper. They must be proud of their kids for making their homes cleaner and rubbish free, for this week and a few more weeks to come.

With Mr. Tan, from AISIEC UTM, who had been a big help

the weighing process

Even the old paper collectors had to come on Friday because he could not put everything in his small lorry just in one day. So, the long wait had finally come to its end. We had actually managed to sell a big sum of RM1459. And just imagine that much money that we throw away almost every day.The winners of the recycling campaign this season are as follows:

2KP2 - 1115 kg
2KP1 - 1032 kg
2EK1 - 564 kg

Congratulations to the winners and we are thinking of organizing the same competition for the second term. And thank you for people who have been contributing to the campaign, and we hope that people can be more aware of recycling and saving planet earth. WORLD PEACE!

PMR SEMINAR - SMK TAMAN PELANGI

6th May - SMK Taman Pelangi. Another big crowd, in an open hall which was quite warm. Not much comment can be written except that I wished I had a smaller group of students who were more willing to listen. But isn't life is like that? You don't always get what you wish for. And I was here also last week on Friday for SPM students.

I am now thinking of writing a book which has to do something that is related to organizing talks for schools.

PMR SEMINAR - SMK TAMAN JOHOR JAYA 1

Went to hold another seminar session in SMK Taman Johor Jaya 1. It was a big crowd but they were quite cooperative right until the end, which was actually a big relief.

RECYCLING CAMPAIGN WEEK

The recycling campaign is back in school, except for this time round it is done with the help of students from AISIEC UTM. Today, nine classes were asked to bring their old newspapers, books, magazines etc. to be recycled and the respond was quite good. We managed to get slightly more than 150 kilogrammes of materials to be recycled and the class that was in the lead now is 2EK1 which had collected 141 kilogrammes of paper so far. This is actually a competition between classes with the winner being promised cash money that can be used for their class party at the end of the year. It is still too early to tell which class will get the cold hard cash as there are three more days to go. Let's just wait and see.

Don't forget everybody, it is our responsibility to reduce, reuse and recycle. WORLD PEACE!

MOVIE REVIEW 15 - IRON MAN 2

I watched Iron Man, the first movie and had a jolly good time so I had to watch its sequel. If you have predicted that a sequel will be not as good as the first one, that you must be wrong. This is a great movie and I went home a happy man.

As usual, it is about a superhero versus a villain and in the end, the superhero wins and saves the world. However, in Iron Man, you get not just the actions but the humour as well. There were many hilarious moments, the hero is a funny man indeed.

If I were to grade this film, out of 5 stars, I would not hesitate to give a 6. So you better go watch this movie fast. "Get a roof!"

CHESS CLUB ANNUAL GATHERING/PARTY

Nope, it was not a tea party after all. It was a dinner party as they were having it at 7:30 p.m. But I still love the card just the same. How much effort they had put in organizing this get together.

This annual gathering was done a bit late but it was better late than never. It was held at a new venue, KFC Taman Universiti that is attached to the Petronas station. Actually, we used to have it at KFC which was situated near CIMB and I like that place better because it was spacious and had more privacy if we wanted to throw a party like this.

About 20 people came, two teachers: Miss Quek and I, and the committee members of the present and the year before.

Too bad I had to leave earlier as I had to be somewhere else and I just could not afford to be late. I hoped that they would all go back home feeling happy after that. Thank you for inviting.

IT'S POTLUCK TIME AGAIN

This happened yesterday in the staff room - another potluck. We just enjoy having potluck but this time it was to express our gratitude and to bid farewell to two trainees from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia.

With no specific theme, the food prepared should be light enough for tea but when there was so much thing to eat, I am sure would have put an extra kilo once they got home. There were roti jala, lempeng (Malay version of pan-cake), boiled tapioca, and even pizza, not to forget bubur chacha (sweet porridge) and variety of kuih.

So we wish Cikgu Rohana and Cikgu Ruhaidah the very best of luck and may they excel in their profession.
