ANGKLUNG GROUP REHEARSAL DAY ONE

I must say that we have been working extra hard this season. We have learned a few new songs and we are trying for the very first time to play angklung without looking at the notes. The first day of the rehearsal for the coming PTA annual meeting was disastrous especially for the Malay song. Nevertheless, we will try again tomorrow for a better performance. You just need to be more confident, boys!



These are the few pictures that cannot make me stop smiling. After the continuous practice, we were really tired but happy!

SPM 2010 RESULT WAS OUT

At last, the SPM result was announced today. This time, it was quite late compared to the previous ones so there were many speculations of the date when the result would be released.

Generally, the school performance was good. More students managed to get straight A's from this batch. Nevertheless, I still believe that whatever results that they received, that would be what they deserved to get ~ reap what you sow.

This was not the ending, this was just the beginning. Wishing all the school leavers the very best of luck in their journey into the real world. Hope you will not forget me.

BRUNEI TRIP: SULTAN OMAR ALI SAIFUDDIN MOSQUE

The other stop was the beautiful mosque that is located in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan. This holy building was large but camera was not allowed in the main hall. I was in awe observing the beautiful architecture inside the mosque and the large hall was air-conditioned.

BRUNEI TRIP:THE ROYAL REGALIA BUILDING

This was the first place that I stopped at Bandar Seri Begawan, after lunch. The Royal Regalia Building housed a few of the belongings of the super rich Sultan of Brunei.







There were two sections: the first one, visitors were allowed to pose and take photographs; the second one, you were only allowed entry after you keep your cameras and mobiles in the lockers provided. So all the pictures that you are seeing will only come from the first section.



























If you had been to Galeri Perdana in Langkawi, this place was similar to that. The moral of the story: if you have a very rich friend, if you want to give him or her a present, it has to be very expensive. Thank God, all my friends are not that rich (I guess) so I can always get presents from Jusco for them.

BOOK REVIEW 13: GILBERT'S "EAT PRAY LOVE"

If you love travel and comedy, this is the book that must not be missed. Basically it tells about the life of the author who had just divorced and facing the misery and was trying to overcome her depression by travelling to three countries: Italy, India and Indonesia; accidentally all the three names start with "I". So it was half travelogue, half autobiography and that has made it complete. She was in Italy to learn Italian, India to do yoga and Indonesia to stay with an old Balinese medicine man, Pak Ketut Liyer. During her journey, she then discovered her true self and found what she wanted in life, I suppose. Two words that I can use to describe this novel: HONEST and COMICAL. This book reminds me of the poem by Muhammad Hj. Salleh studied in school last time by form four students, "Si Tenggang Homecoming" which starts off with "The physical journey that I traverse, is the journey of the soul".

And after reading this novel, I can feel the urge to travel more and see the world. Or at least, a little of the world. But I need to get the movie made from this book on DVD first.

TWO WEDDINGS IN A DAY

WEDDING #1: PN. ASRIYAH, A COLLEAGUE

The first wedding of a colleague, Puan Asriyah, was held in Rengit, Batu Pahat. The place was quite far as it took me almost 2 hours to reach her place. The house was not only by the main road but also right in front of the shop selling traditional food (more of a wholesaler), Azhar Food. I was glad to meet Puan Yasirah, her husband and the two kids as I had people I know to tag along. I was there quite early so the bride was still in the house. Too bad I had to rush back earlier as there was another invitation to be attended.

WEDDING #2: MR. MUZAFFAR, AN EX-STUDENT

The second wedding of an ex-student, Mr. Muzaffar Zahar, was held in UTM. I arrived a bit late as I was rushing back from the first wedding in Rengit. The good thing is that I had the chance to chat a bit with the bridegroom as there were not many guests anymore, and I could take more pictures there as well. I had promised with another ex-student earlier, Mr. Shamsul Nahar, to go there at the same time, so he was there when I came. I guess that wrapped up the one week school break this time and I should get ready to be back at work real soon.
