THE VERY LAST PAGODA VISITED IN MYANMAR - MAHAMUNI PAGODA

16th DECEMBER 2019 ~ We finally arrived at the very last pagoda in Myanmar: Mahamuni Pagoda in Mandalay. This should be the biggest pagoda building and foreigner had to pay the entrance fee to get inside.

We met this one girl who was in-charge of selling the tickets and she was happy to meet people from Malaysia. She could even speak Malay Language as she had stayed and worked in Malaysia  and Singapore before for 5 years (she mentioned Sunway Pyramid). I should have taken a selfie with her.

There were a museum and art gallery in the pagoda building too. Another room was the library which housed the ancient Buddhist scripts.

Inside the pagoda was a huge Buddha statue and people came here to pray. They could also contribute by buying gold leaves which would then be stuck on the statue. As a result, the statue had become bigger (fatter) and thicker. People could even watch the leaves being put on Buddha live on the big screen outside the main hall.

This should conclude our 4-day pagoda and temple hopping trips in Yangon, Bagan and Mandalay. I must say this had been one educational and informative trip ever as we got to know more about Myanmar, the people and its culture.
