We were the first to arrive and could not stay long as the rest had to go back to work as they were there during their lunch break. I am quite sure to see more of them in other similar events that will involve eating.

ATTENDING MUHAMMAD DHIRAR'S 1ST BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION
23rd December 2014 ~ I was invited to the 1st birthday celebration of Muhammad Dhirar, the grandson of an ex-staff of SMK Taman Universiti, Puan Maniseh a.k.a Kak Yam among my friends. The event was held at her house in Taman Universiti. I was touched by Puan Maniseh's kind thought to invite me despite the fact that she had left school for quite some time. I was also glad to get to see her and my old friends again.

THE GENERAL SCIENCES LIBRARY OF HO CHI MINH CITY
11th December 2014 ~ [FIRST DAY HCMC TRIP] I saw this place while trying to familiarize with the roads around the hotel. It was the General Sciences Library of Ho Chi Minh City. I decided to take some photos and I even entered the lobby of the building but there was an officer standing at the library entrance, so that was all I could see.
The library is actually one of the old buildings that could still be found in the city. Read more about the history of the library HERE.

THE FAMOUS BAN THANH MARKET - PART TWO
There was this one part of the market where tourists did not walk around. At least I did not see any Malaysians around here, I think. If only they could buy all the seafood like fish and prawns to bring back home, I think they would do that too. I was expecting to see unfamiliar items on sale but there wasn't any - I should perhaps come early in the morning to see something more interesting.
When I saw this colourful section from afar, I really thought they were artificial flowers, but they were not. Fresh flowers were in abundance and I guess the Vietnamese produce their own fresh flowers in some parts of the country and the locals are also buying them daily.
Believe it or not, I did not buy even a single thing from the market. I was always out during the day and too tired to visit the market in the evening. Furthermore a night market is held 24/7 so I could just buy similar items from the market easily, especially souvenirs.
What are the useful tips if you are going there? Just bring a lot of money and hone your bargaining skills.

THE FAMOUS BAN THANH MARKET - PART ONE
11th December 2014 ~ [FIRST DAY HCMC TRIP] The famous market in Ho Chi Minh happened to be just a walking distance of a 5-minute walk from the hotel where I was staying. It was the first place I visited and found that it was a typical market like what I have seen in a touristy city. If I were to throw a stone in the market, I was quite sure the probability of a Malaysian to be hit would be very high. Even the traders were speaking with the customers in Malay language and they accepted our Ringgit Malaysia currency. The lady vendors would be calling me "Abang... abang.." (translate: sweetie, NOT brother) in order to attract my attention. Suddenly I felt like a hot stuff to be there, with people calling and at times pulling my hand. *sigh*
