Sunday, 27th January 2013 ~ The birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was celebrated today at Masjid Tan Sri Ainuddin, the mosque in Taman Universiti. The school's Outreach Bureau had decided not to have the celebration done in school and instead to join in the mosque's similar activity.
When I arrived at about 9:15 a.m., there were already a lot of people in the mosque listening to a talk delivered in conjunction with the launching of the Haj (pilgrimage to Mecca) course. The guest speaker for the event, Ustaz Badlishah, who is one of the prominent speakers who frequently makes his appearance on television, came at 10:00 and he delivered a speech that was related mostly to the greatness of Prophet Muhammad and the place of his birth, Mecca.
The audience were mesmerized with the speaker's storytelling skills and he most of the time narrated real life experience that people could relate to very easily. The talk lasted for an hour and a half but it was too good that it was suddenly over without we realizing how long it had been. That explained the big number of people who turned up for the session.

Right after that, people were invited to have lunch where four people ate together the food that was served in a tray. It is a custom that is believed could strengthen the bond between people.

It was a huge success for the event which was organized by the committee members of the mosque. I think we could do this again next year as it saved a lot of time, money and energy. In a way, this prevented redundancy of celebrating the birthday of the Prophet. Let's wait and see what will happen next year.
