MY GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE AT SETIA CITY MALL

25th MAY 2024 ~ It was lunch for Mr. Ridwan and Puan Suhaila but I would just consider this my meal for tea time as I had had mine during the wedding reception earlier. We stopped at this restaurant in Setia City Mall called Sepiring which served western and local delicacies.

We all went traditional here: I had Curry Laksa, Mr. Ridwan chose Nasi Kerabu while Puab Suhaila settled for Gado Gado.

Lunch was done and the mall hopping activity had come to its end. My gastronomic adventure, however, still continued after this. Mr. Ridwan and his wife made sure I got my dinner before flying back home to Johor Bahru. [READ HERE] I always feel I am getting fatter after seeing these two people.

MY KULIM GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - BREAKFAST AT NORLAILA NASI KERABU

23rd FEBRUARY 2024    ~ I was already out of the hotel building by 7:30 a.m., wandering and looking for a place to get breakfast. Kulim seemed not to be awaken yet at that hour as I could be the only person walking on the road that morning.

At the end of the row of shophouses near the hotel, I spotted a restaurant which was already opened. I even asked the ladies there whether I could already eat and I was the first customer of the day.

The restaurant served delicacies of the East Coast so basically one would have to take heavy breakfast here.

I had my bright blue rice, Nasi Kerabu, and was ready to start the day.

MASAKAN MEK YAH - THE FOOD OF THE EAST COAST IN JOHOR BAHRU

I had been wanting to get my food of the East Coast for breakfast from this place in Kampung Melayu, and I eventually did it.

FIRST VISIT: 31st January 2024

It was a Wednesday, a working day, so the eating place was quite empty.

I managed to get the Nasi Dagang which I found delicious and would come back for this rice again.

SECOND VISIT: 2nd JANUARY 2024

The second time I went to Masakan Pantai Timur Cek Yah Restaurant was to specifically try its Nasi Kerabu. I preferred the Nasi Dagang more to Nasi Kerabu.

This time I was accompanied by my niece who was also having the same rice. She said it was alright, which meant not bad.

I would have to make a return trip to eat other food like Nasi Minyak and Laksam after this.

I need to find new eating places so I could offer more choices when my friends come to town.

THE EARLY GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE IN ENDAU

3rd DECEMBER 2022   ~ The gastronomic adventure started early for the group as we drove all the way to Endau town for breakfast. The eating place chosen was "Nasi Kerabu Honey".

I chose Nasi Dagang with Fish Curry while the others mostly ate Nasi Kerabu. Mine was delicious and authentic.

However, the main attraction here was its Milk Tea, I think.

We were happy with the breakfast and was so ready to continue with the road trip [back home].

VISITING THE HOUSE OF A FAMILY IN LABUAN

6th JUNE 2022 ~ First I got to know Mr. Zaman as the driver cum tourist guide for my trip on the island. After three days, friendship was developed and I was invited for dinner with his family at his house which was located near the Pohon Batu Beach. How I could I say "no" to such an offer.

I guess we had similar pastimes.

Authentic Kelantanese Nasi Kerabu was served for the guest. A scrumptious plate of blue rice that I will always remember.

One happy and friendly family I was glad to meet during my holiday and I made one more new friend at least. I hope to see them again some other time in the future.

A LUNCH SESSION AT A FRIEND'S HOUSE

5th AUGUST 2021 ~ I needed to have a proper lunch before getting my second dose of vaccination so I decided to drop by at my ex-schoolmate's [of SMS Muar] house in Rose Villa. We had the same menu of Nasi Kerabu we had had three weeks before except this time there was grilled beef instead of chicken in spices.

Thanks Mr. Razib for the short lunch session. Food always tasted better when there was a friend to accompany you eating.
