ATTENDING SH. FARAHEDAYU'S WEDDING DINNER AT R.O. MEMORIES @THE SPRING

I attended a wedding dinner at R.O. Memories @ the Spring, Taman Sutera, Johor Bahru. This could be something rare as most of the wedding receptions I attended are during day time. I was invited by Miss Sharifah Farahedayu binti Syed Hassan, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti from SPM batch 2008. I had to accept her invitation for her determination to make sure I would be there.

I was among the early birds and I was lucky as I met the bride at the entrance so I got the opportunity to be photographed in the garden.

This should be my very first time attending a wedding reception at R.O. Memories @ the Spring.

The reception was started with the solemnization ceremony which lasted for about half an hour, and then only we helped ourselves with the buffet dinner.

There were quite a number of people from school which I recognized, or at least looked familiar.

both my ex-students too *sigh*

I would have to thank the bridegroom for her kind thought to invite me to be at her wedding.

I wish the newly married couple a long-lasting happiness in their marriage and may Allah bless you both.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - GOING THAI FOR LUNCH AT AMPHAWA

Another gastronomic outing was set with the two regular people/ex-students and this time it was lunch at Amphawa Boat Noodle located at Taman Sutera, Johor Bahru.

It was Thai food on the dining table and we had tom yum and fried rice and also mango with sticky rice for dessert.

iced tea, iced rose tea and iced coffee

mango with sticky rice (and coconut milk)

The place should be a good place to eat Thai food and hang out a little bit. I will definitely come back for its iced drinks, or perhaps try other delicacies next time.

Thanks to Miss Khaulah Abd. Rahim and Miss Noorul Nashuha Atan [SMKTUN's SPM batch 2006] for the food and the company. So far the progress was good as this was the second eat out session this year already. Keep up the good work!

MY FIRST TIME AT HWA MUI

Hwa Mui is THE coffee shop in Johor Bahru town. When I was in primary school, my late father used to take me for coffee and toast at its original premise (which is still in existence and operating) at Jalan Wong Ah Fook. However, I had never been there ever since despite its popularity, even among outsiders.

Today someone suggested visiting Hwa Mui for a change, instead of our regular eating spots in Taman Universiti. So there I was for the first time, at the new place in Taman Sutera. It is better late than never.

Since it was quite late for lunch so I settled for its "kaya" toasts and tea [traditional jam made from eggs, coconut milk and sugar]. So it is now no longer the old school "kopitiam" [a Chinese word which means "coffee shop] and there will be a lot of items on the menu for you to choose. While many Malays/Muslims are quite reluctant to dine in a Chinese-owned coffee shop. Hwa Mui is an exception here in Johor Bahru.

Thanks to Mr. Shahril for the treat so it will be my turn for our next meeting.
