ENTERTAINING GUEST SPEAKERS WHO CAME TO SCHOOL

We had this programme where guest speakers for a few subjects were called to school to give talks to form five students on how to score better grades in their upcoming examination. As for English, we had Mr. Bobby Chan, an old friend whom I used to work together for PT3 Exam last time.

Since the canteen was already closed by the time the slot was over, I decided to take Mr. Bobby out for lunch outside so we went to Vivo Restaurant in Plaza Pelangi. We had our chicken chops and coffee and I hope that the meal was good enough to make Mr. Bobby come back again next year. 😁 But it was really good to get the opportunity to sit down and chat again just like old time.

Actually there was another friend from SMK Mutiara Rini who came to give a talk for History subject yesterday. I took Mr. Nazri to have Briyani at Sri Pelangi Briyani in Taman Pelangi for lunch after the session, but I forgot to take a photo there. It was always a pleasure to accept (old) friends as guests and entertain them during their official visits to school.

B5 JOHOR STREET MARKET - THE LATEST ATTRACTION IN TOWN

23rd SEPTEMBER 2020 ~ The latest attraction in town is B5 Johor Street Market. B5 derived its name from the original commercial area of the spot: Batu 5 [TRANSLATE: 5th Mile]. The place is now known as B Five which sounds more hipster.

Basically, people come here for three reasons. First, to shop. Second, to eat. Third, to take photos. As for me, the second reason will take me back here.

I came here after school to try a few of its foods with an ex-student and to check out this new spot. There were not many people around on a working day. I was told that this place was more lively in the evening and during weekends/public holidays.

Another post is going to be specifically about the food court of this place coming your way real soon. Do come back for more.

Is it singular or plural, or uncountable?

Is the article "a" necessary?

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION IN SHAH ALAM

26th SEPTEMBER 2020 ~ My second wedding reception attended since MCO was first imposed took place in Shah Alam. It was the big day for Mr. Muhammad Najmi Syukri, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti [SPM batch 2006].

The venue of the event was Avenue of the Star, in Shah Alam.

I was lucky as my friend, Mr. Ridwan Wahid of UPM TESL class of 1993, was kind enough not only to drive me there but accompany me as well into the hall.

the other hall

For once, I did not meet anyone, neither ex-colleagues nor ex-students at the reception. 😀 I could not stay too long there as I had a bus to catch after that.

Thanks a lot Mr. Najmi for inviting me to the reception. Congratulations again and wishing the days ahead be filled with lasting love and joy for both of you.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - SARANG BURUNG LAKSA

Another attraction you could find at the B5 Food Court was this Laksa Sarang Burung [TRANSLATE: Bird's Nest Noodles]. There was no bird's nest at all actually. It was Penang Laksa which was complemented with a piece of fried egg that came in the texture and shape of folded bird's nest.

MY VERDICT:I don't really fancy Penang Laksa as I stay loyal to Johor Laksa. However, this Sarang Burung Laksa was delicious. The gravy was thick and I could still find bits and pieces of fish meat in the bowl. The fried egg was the one to die for. I might consider coming back to this place one of these days. I am glad I took the effort to try this food.
