GOING KOREAN FOR DINNER AT SHAH ALAM

7th AUGUST 2026    ~ There was no specific plan for the gastronomic adventure is Shah Alam. We ended up going Korean in Dubuyo in Plaza Shah Alam which was just beside the hotel where we were staying.

There were not many people in the mall and only one or two tables in the restaurant were occupied.

We both had a big bowl of seafood noodles that came together with three types of kimchi. I think the dish was called Buldak Boomyeon.

I couldn't remember when I last had Korean food. Guess I will have to visit my favourite Korean restaurant in Johor Bahru one day.

VISITING MUZIUM SULTAN ALAM SHAH IN SHAH ALAM - PART ONE

This was my museum visit to kill time before the book launch event in the afternoon [READ HERE] on 6TH December, 2025 . Sultan Alam Shah Museum was recently opened to public and I had Mr. Amirul Yusri, a younger brother of an ex-student, who voluntarily accompanied me.

My first impression of the place: big and modern, and I was truly impressed.

There were not many people visiting the museum when we were there.

STAYING AT MARDHIYYAH HOTEL IN SHAH ALAM

6th DECEMBER 202 ~ I checked in at Mardhiyyah Hotel in Shah Alam for a 3D2N stay. The last time I stayed at Shah Alam was many years ago for a formal work-related meeting in a hotel that no longer existed.

There were many people staying at the hotel when I was there. I could see a big group of Singaporeans who were taking part in a football tournament and also the family members. Another group was the local policemen who were having sports competitions in the city.

The hotel was alright, except it was not easy to find nearby eating places or malls.

I don't mind staying at this place again though. I don't know when I will be coming to Shah Alam again.

VISITING TAMAN ANGGERIK AT TAMAN TASIK SHAH ALAM - PART TWO

7TH DECEMBER 2025    ~ After looking around at the stalls selling all sorts of agricultural products, we then entered Taman Anggerik [TRANSLATE: Orchid Garden] Shah Alam.

The garden was just officially opened by the Queen of Selangor two days ago. That was the reason behind the festive vibe of this place seen from afar.

The orchids and other plants looked brand new. They were just relocated to this particular area because of the event.

The garden was adequately large and could be the place for people to come with their family members and walk around while admiring the flowers and green plants. Children would love to run around the place for sure. However, make sure your kids do not pluck the flowers or destroy any of the plants there.

There was even a glasshouse which should be the attraction of the garden.

Under controlled sunlight and temperature, bigger blooms could be found here.

It started to drizzle once we came out of the glasshouse and we later had to run to the car or else we would get wet. [The rain then turned into heavy downpour once I reached the hotel].

I would love to come back to this place one more time so I could spend more time looking and admiring at the colourful flowers. I just hope the authority would be able to maintain this place as a recreational spot for the public.
