'TIS THE SEASON TO RECYCLE AGAIN

There was a need to send the accumulated recyclable items, and at the same time, SWM set up a drive through collection counter at Dataran Bandaraya. There was some sort of event going on.

Make hay while the sun shines. I drove to the venue at 5:30 p.m. and everything was successfully handed over and weighed on the spot. I had carried out my social responsibility in saving Mother Earth.

VISITING THE RECYCLING HUB AFTER THE EID SPRING CLEANING

12th APRIL 2025 ~ Spring cleaning activity was a popular past time before the arrival of Eid. There must be a lot of things that needed to be thrown away. Mine was heaps of boxes.

There was a need to visit the Recycling Hub in B5 Tampoi as these boxes were bulky and took up a lot of space. Mission was successfully accomplished and documented.

MAKING ANOTHER APPEARNCE IN THE NEWSPAPER

22nd FEBRUARY 2025   ~ I made another appearance in The Star newspaper with the topic of recycling. It was an old photo of mine being used for the newspaper article.

Getting popular is not a choice it seems.

'TIS THE SEASON TO RECYCLE

It was time to carry out my social responsibility - to do recycling. I already had a carload of recyclable items that had to be sent to the Recycling Hub at B5, Tampoi. I was here in August last year [READ HERE] so I had accumulated enough materials to be disposed off.

I will need to check the SWM's KITARecycle Portal for how much cash I can earn later. Still, I had done my part to save planet Earth.

MAKING THE HEADLINE IN THE NEWSPAPER AGAIN - AFTER ONE WEEK

My recycling activities story appeared again in the newspaper, this time in a Chinese daily "China Press".

It looked like the translated version of the story that appeared in The Star a week ago. [READ HERE]

Here is the online version of the news in Chinese. [CLICK HERE]

By now, I should be almost a celebrity already 😀

I successfully got hold of the hardcopy of the real newspaper from a petrol kiosk in the afternoon. It is now time to get the cuttings framed at the shop real soon.

MAKING MY APPEARENCE IN THE STAR NEWSPAPER TODAY

  TODAY IN HISTORY:
I was one lucky person to be featured in today's The Star for my recycling activities.
The above should be the scanned version of the original newspaper article and that is the best I could do as the size of the newspaper is too big to fit into my scanner frame.

Here's another scanned version sent by my ex-student, Mr. Muhammad Arif Mohd. Nizam.

I got to thank him as well for asking me to be interviewed by the reporter and my story was published today. To appear in a national newspaper is a rare chance one could get and hopefully I could inspire others to recycle and save planet earth too.

Here is the link for the online version of the story.

TODAY IN HISTORY - WINNING A RECYCLING COMPETITION

I was listed as one of the winners for the Recycling Competition organized by SWM Environment. What I did was to send some recyclable items to the Recycling Hub before Eid and got the payment in the form of redeemable points in my account. And I am lucky to be one of the top contributors for the campaign. I am now 5000 points richer, which is equivalent to RM250.00.

This should be my first time winning a competition and something for me to remember.

Let's do our part to save planet Earth. Let's recycle.

IT'S RECYCLING TIME AGAIN

25th January 2022 ~ The time had come to send the recyclable items to the recycling factory in Kempas so I drove there after school. I was actually going somewhere else but would have to drive past the factory on the way there.

I got RM9.00 richer that day and was happy I had done my part to save mother earth.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO SAVE MOTHER EARTH?

16th OCTOBER 2021 ~ The recycle factory was finally opened after the MCO was lifted and it was time for me to do my bit for the society. The cans and plastic materials had been accumulating so it was to be sent away and gain some money.

I was RM15 richer but the most important thing, I had done my part to save Mother Earth. What about you?

A MISSION TO SAVE MOTHER EARTH

This should be my third time going to the recycle factory this year. After the spring cleaning and extreme makeover done during the MCO period, there were just too many things that had to be disposed (properly). By sending the recyclable items, which were mainly papers, would give one (much) more cash if compared to the old newspaper lorry that makes its rounds in the neighbourhood.

My mission to save Mother Earth was accomplished and I was RM22.10 richer by the end of the day.

AN ENVIRONMENTAL FRIENDLY RESTAURANT IN BANGKOK

This was the restaurant that we found by accident when we were at this place near Chatuchak Market when we lost our way while trying to find the train station. The name of this place was something like Som Sang Restaurant but I could not find it on Google. It was not operating that evening so I could take more photos.

The unique characteristic of this eating place was that it used recycled materials for its furniture and decors. Look closely and you will see there are things that you might have thrown away from your home or workplace.

an old wooden door

old clocks on the wall

oil drums

a freezer box?

there is a bicycle hanging from the roof

It was brilliantly done and it looked hip enough for people to hang out with their friends here. At the same time they would show their support towards the continuous effort to save Mother Earth.
