THE ENGAGEMENT CEREMONY CUM EID OPEN HOUSE IN PUTRA HEIGHTS

4TH APRIL 2026    ~ Puan Maslinda Mohd. Dahalan, a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993, held the Engagement Ceremony for her youngest daughter. It was also the Open House for Eid. So people came to The Glades Clubhouse in Putra Heights for two events at one time.

I was lucky because my ex-student, Mr. Raja Mohd. Hilmi, was willing to drive me to Putra Heights all the way from his house in Seremban. And I managed to persuade him to follow me to the feast.

There were a few other TESL friends and a lecturer at the clubhouse.

I could not stay for too long as I had to go back to Seremban to catch my train back home later in the evening. We are now looking forward to attending the wedding reception of Puan Maslinda's daughter in August.

THE OPEN HOUSES ON THE LAST DAY OF EID - PART TWO

18TH APRIL 2026    ~ The next open house I attended was held by an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, Puan Norizah Ahmad at Bandar Baru Kangkar Pulai. She has now retired too, and guess more and more people are joining the club.

My ex-secondary schoolmate of Sekolah Temenggong Abdul Rahman (2) [STAR2], Mr. Ridzuan Masrom. was also there with his wife.

The husband, Mr. Abdul Wahid [who is also a teacher] and her daughter, Miss Farah, are no strangers to me. When she was a small kid, Miss Farah used to tag along her mother to school and now she is already in college, pursuing her bachelor degree.

I could not eat that much as this was already my third house visited for the day. I was glad to get to meet Puan Norizah and her other family members after so long.

[READ HERE FOR HOUSE #1 AND HOUSE #2]

Nevertheless, I still managed to squeeze in one more Eid Open House invitation, which was held by a neighbour, Mr. Shahrul.

I was there at about 5:30 p.m. and my other friends must have come much earlier. There were not many people at that time.

I just had Chapati [forgot to take the photo] eaten with Fish Asam Pedas and two pieces of Kuih.

After attending a non-stop eating activities at four houses in one day, for sure I had grown fatter by no time. Thank God it was the last day of Eid and it was time to try and lose some weight after this.

THE OPEN HOUSE ON THE LAST DAY OF EID - PART ONE

18TH APRIL 2026    ~ An ex-schoolmate of SMS Muar, Puan Aishah, held an Eid Open House on the last day of Eid. It was also done as she will be performing her Haj [Pilgrimage] soon. The event was held at his house in Taman Laguna.

I seldom had the chance to meet up with ex-schoolmates. Today, I was again reunited with Mr. Hasmi, Mr. Mahayuddin Ma'min and Puan Minah Selamat, apart from the host.

I could not stay long as there were two more open houses to attend right after.

Wishing Puan Aishah a safe journey to and fro, and his Haj will be blessed.

22ND DAY OF EID 1447H - PART TWO

11TH APRIL 2026    ~ A series of Eid gathering took place on the 22nd day of Eid ul-Fitr. After entertaining a group of two people in the morning [READ HERE], it was then my turn to go out for Eid house visit. The first one was at Taman Sri Pulai, at the home of Miss Ezatul Hanim Yahya, and at the same time, her other schoolmates of SMK Taman Universiti [of 1999 SPM batch] gathered at the same time.

The next one was an open house event in Taman Universiti, at the home of Dr. Harith Ismail. I met two other ex-students there, his younger sister and her husband. They all attended the same school, SMK Taman Universiti, as well.

The last open house was also at the house of ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti. By the time I arrived, I was not able to eat much so I just settled for the dessert and coffee.

Other than Mr. Hafizuddin and his sister and younger brother, I also met another ex-student, Miss Valerie.

Other than the non-stop eating activities, Eid also brought people back together and this sometimes only happened once a year, or even once in many years.

THE 8TH DAY OF EID 1447H

28TH MARCH 2026   ~ I was invited to the Eid Open House held by an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti [SPM batch 1999], Ms. Zalila Ali, at her house in Taman Sri Pulai. Her husband is also an ex-student of the same school but too bad, he was working on that day so I could not meet him.

This was the third event involving eating all kinds of food of the day so I could eat that much.

There were also other ex-students of the same batch who attended the Open House. We had planned actually to be there at the same time.

I just got to know the host's younger brother, Mr. Hazli Ali, is also an ex-student of mine.

Thanks to Ms. Zalila for the invitation. Hopefully I will be invited again for other open houses in the future.
