THE 9TH DAY OF EID 1447H

29TH MARCH 2026    ~ Two more groups of guests came visiting on the ninth day of Eid. The first one was the family of Mr. Shavarein Sulong and his family members, the regular annual visitors. Mr. Syazwan Shavarein is an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti and because of him, I get connected to the other people in the family circle.

This year, the Eid visit was concluded with the visit to the garden in the backyard and the photoshoot was done outdoor.

The second smaller group was another ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti Felda, Mr. Solihin Ramli, whom I taught him English when he was in Form 3 in the tuition class there. He now came visiting with his wife and 6-month baby boy.

So far, those were all the people who had come during the nine days of long Eid break [for some people]. As tomorrow children will be going back to school and adults to work, I am expecting less people to come. And I still have a lot of Eid cookies at home.

BOYS' DAY OUT FOR LUNCH AND COFFEE

I will never say "no" when someone asks me out for lunch, dinner or any meal outside - when the time is right.

Today, someone who just got married recently [READ HERE], asked me whether I was free for lunch. I quickly agreed and the lunch date was set at Midvalley Mega Mall [in Johor Bahru].

The chosen venue was the Chicken Rice Shop. The host decided to eat rice as had not taken breakfast.

my childhood neighbours in the same shop

To conclude the day's gastronomic adventure, we then went into a Japanese pastry restaurant called Chateraise, a name I did not even know how to pronounce. It was our first time there and I instantly loved the coffee and scone-like filled with custard pastry. I used to see a long queue outside the shop on weekends.

Thanks to Mr. Muhammad Solihin Ramli [an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti FELDA] for still asking me out for lunch even after getting tying the knot. I will, however, have to see how long this will last.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION OF AN EX-STUDENT AT FELDA REDONG

This was my first time being invited and attended a wedding reception of an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti Felda Johor Bahru.

I drove all the way to Felda Redong 1 in Segamat to attend the wedding of Mr. Muhammad Solihin Ramli whom I taught English for his tuition class many years ago. The event was held at the groom's house.

The only person I knew was my cousin's son who happened to be the groom's friend. It was a surprise to meet him there.

Wisihing Mr. Solihin and his wife a happy life filled with everlasting love. Guess I am losing another regular coffee buddy now.

THE 27TH DAY OF EID 1445H

Mr. Solihin Ramli, an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti FELDA, dropped by this evening for the Eid visit. It was only a short stay as we then decided to go out for coffee at a Hipster Cafe nearby.

The chosen venue this time round was Renjana by Kafenatik. I had been to this place twice before but it was closed so this time should be my lucky evening.

There were a lot of people when we arrived, and we managed to secure a table fortunately.

MY VERDICT: Coffee was good and food was good too. The most important thing the price was reasonable. Two cups of coffee and two plates of Grilled Chicken and Chicken Chop cost only RM50.80. I will not hesitate to come back again soon.

THE LAST MOREH SESSION FOR RAMADHAN 1445H

7TH APRIL 2024 ~ A Moreh date was set with an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti Felda, Mr. Solihin Ramli. The chosen venue was Food Fashion Restaurant located at Dataran Larkin. I had heard of this place before and this was my first time there.

GLOSSARY:
MOREH - the supper session after the Terawikh prayers.
TERAWIKH - the prayers performed only in the month of Ramadhan at night.

We met at about 10:00 p.m. but there were still many people who came to dine in at that hour.

Thanks Mr. Solihin for the treat and the company. Congratulations in advance on the announcement of the coming big event in your life that should be happening by next week. Guess this kind of meeting would be happening again after this once you are formally taken. 😀

THE SHORT DINNER MEETING AT ALIFF BISTRO

Someone wanted to pass to me [baby] banana plants which were brought all the way from Segamat. He also needed to see someone and pass something to the person at Aliff Bistro which was near my house. Hence the best thing would be to go and get dinner there.

Thanks Mr. Mohd. Solihin Ramli for the [baby] banana plants which I would be planted in my backyard real soon.

THE SHORT COFFEE DATE AFTER SCHOOL

A coffee date was set with Mr. Solihin Ramli, an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti Felda, after school. The chosen venue was Nimmies Pastry Cafe as I wanted to get coffee and something light.

It had been quite some time we last met. He was too busy taking photos for all  sorts of events.

When I arrived there at 4:00 p.m., there was no parking space nearby so I had to park my car in front of people's houses further away. There were actually people queuing up outside but Mr. Solihin had arrived much earlier and successfully secured a place for us. I actually asked him to do that.

This was my second time here and the cafe was crowded even though it was still office hours. Where did all these people come from?

It was just a short coffee date and guess I would have to wait for some other time for another coffee session with Mr. Solihin as he would get busier after this.

THE 6TH DAY OF EID 1444H

The one and only Eid visitor today was an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti Felda, Mr. Solihin Ramli.

It was just a short visit as he had to rush for another Eid photo shoot job. We will need to meet again to discuss about our possible travel plan for the next school holiday.

24 more days  to go...
