BOYS' DAY OUT FOR A MOVIE MATINEE - "MICHAEL"

I am glad I finally managed to watch "Michael" on the big screen. I successfully dragged Mr. Solihin Ramli to the matinee show and I think he enjoyed the film as much as me. The last movie we watched together was Papa Zola, a local animation film, last year at the same venue in Mid Valley Mall. [READ HERE]

There were just the two of us when we entered the hall. I felt rich, having the whole theatre to myself that afternoon, but the feeling did not last that long.

Fond memories of secondary school came flooding back while watching the life of Michael Jackson. The superstar I grew up with, with his songs I started to listen when I was in secondary school at the age of 13 years old. I just felt like singing along to all the hit music but that would cause disturbance to the audience.

The outing trip ended with a light lunch and Mr. Solihin was introduced to my favourite Tuna Sandwich at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaves. We might see each other again for another movie viewing session, time unknown.

Please make sure you go and watch "Michael". You will not only learn about his life, but you are about to experience his live concerts that were so real.

BOYS' DAY OUT FOR LUNCH AND COFFEE

I will never say "no" when someone asks me out for lunch, dinner or any meal outside - when the time is right.

Today, someone who just got married recently [READ HERE], asked me whether I was free for lunch. I quickly agreed and the lunch date was set at Midvalley Mega Mall [in Johor Bahru].

The chosen venue was the Chicken Rice Shop. The host decided to eat rice as had not taken breakfast.

To conclude the day's gastronomic adventure, we then went into a Japanese pastry restaurant called Chateraise, a name I did not even know how to pronounce. It was our first time there and I instantly loved the coffee and scone-like filled with custard pastry. I used to see a long queue outside the shop on weekends.

Thanks to Mr. Muhammad Solihin Ramli [an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti FELDA] for still asking me out for lunch even after getting tying the knot. I will, however, have to see how long this will last.

GOING KOREAN FOR LUNCH AND ENGLISH FOR TEA

24th JUNE 2022 ~ The weekend was here and what better way to spend the time than to eat out with someone who is regularly there to spend time and keep me company. The meeting place: Midvalley Southern City.

We decided to go Korean for lunch and chose to try 4Fingers. This was my second time visiting this restaurant and the first time was at the outlet in KOMTAR JBCC many years ago.

This time we both had rice boxes. And the VERDICT: this meal would be suitable for people who are on a very strict diet. The rice came together with 5 or 6 small chunks of boneless chicken covered in thin sauce and something that looked like shredded carrot which could be kimchi. The portion was small we both knew we had to go and eat something else right after that. Each rice box surprisingly cost RM19.90 (with drinks).

To get over the disappointment of the food we had had for lunch, we decided to get coffee and scones before bidding each other goodbye. Another second time, we sat at the open cafe in Village Grocer. The coffee sure cheered us up a bit, at least we were not feeling hungry anymore.

Thanks a lot Mr. Solihin Ramli, my ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti Felda, for the weekend outing. You better search for another eating spot for our next meeting.

HOW TO SPEND YOUR PUBLIC HOLIDAY?

Today was a public holiday for Johoreans and I thought I really had to give myself a treat after all the hard work before the school reopened a few days ago. I was lucky as Mr. Afif Farhan agreed to go for coffee in the afternoon. In fact, he knew what I was up to the moment he received my Whatsapp message.

Since I wanted to have coffee, he suggested the coffee kiosk at Village Grocer in Midvalley Megamall. And the drinks were accompanied with scones and chicken pie. It was very English of me to have scones but not with tea.

Then I decided to sate my craving for fried chicken so we marched off to Texas Chicken - from English to American. I had to bring back the 2 pieces of chicken home as the scones had already filled most part of my tummy.

Believe it or not, one of the biggest challenges to eat out these days for me is to find someone who would like to tag along. Not that eating alone is something I seldom do.

Thanks Mr. Afif Farhan for the time and company. Guess we will be doing this again after the fasting month which will be arriving soon.

LUNCH SESSION WITH TWO EX-STUDENTS AT NANDO'S

16th MARCH 2022 ~ Two ex-students [of SMK Taman Universiti] wanted to meet up for lunch and we decided to go to Nando's at Midvallley Mega Mall. It had been a long time since I last had a meal here so I guess it was about time.

MY FIRST EAT OUT SESSION FOR 2022

My first eat out session for the year 2022 only happened on the second week of January. Thanks to Mr. Muhammad Solihin Ramli, the student I taught English tuition at Asrama Semai Bakti Felda when he was in form three many years ago.

The venue for the meeting was Midvalley Mega Mall and we opted to dine in at Secret Recipe.

I have to thank Mr. Solihin again for the outing and I realized that the C19 pandemic has robbed off my many eating out sessions and social gatherings with friends and ex-students. I am hoping that things will get back to the way they are soon. Hopefully we could meet up again for another gastronomic adventure soon.

And I met an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti while on my way to the car park, Mr. Hanif Abu Ba'dah, who is currently working there. He was asking me to join him for dinner with another friend next week. That was the plan so far and I am yet to see whether it will be materialize.
