BLOGGING FROM AA AK6423 AT PENANG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

I am now officially stuck in a stationary aeroplane for 2 days, 22nd - 23rd December 2024 at Penang International Airport.
The plane should depart at 22:40 but there was a technical problem. The aerobridge could not be detached from the aircraft.

Let's wait for the drama to unfold.

At about 00.10, we were asked to deplane and passengers are crowding the counter for the reason I don't know. Someone just told me we have now to wait until 08:30.

FINAL UPDATE:
It was true after all that we had to board the next flight at 8:30 a.m. AirAsia offered accommodation to passengers who decided to wait for the next flight but I was informed later that there was not enough place for everybody.
People like me who had checked baggage had to get out of the departure hall to collect our bags, and repeat the same check-in process later. Some of the passengers who were without any checked bags decided to stay in the lounge [and were given free "nasi kandar" at 4:00 a.m. and I did not get that]. The locals went back home and returned to the airport later. A few opted to cancel their present flight for refund or change of flights on different dates and time.
To everybody's relief, we were asked to board another plane to take us home to Johor Bahru as scheduled. We were also given free breakfast of either McD chicken or fish burger, and a bottle of mineral water.

That was how I had to spend one sleepless night at Penang International Airport, and could be one of the trips to be remembered for a long time.

BLOGGING FROM PENANG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

I am now in Penang International Airport, waiting for the plane to take me home at 22:40. The 4D3N trip this time had given me to travel around in three states: Pulau Pinang, Kedah and Perlis, and usual to see old friends and ex-colleagues. Hoping there will be no flight delay so I could reach home on time as planned.

It was one eventful journey home after all [READ HERE].

THE GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE AT THE AIRPORT

15th JULY 2023    ~ When you had nothing else to do while waiting for your flight at the airport, the best thing would be to find a seat in a restaurant and gastronomic adventure should happen.

At 9:00 p.m. however there was no more Nasi Kandar on the shelves. I was happy with the Roti Canai and Teh Tarik I got before boarding time. Nasi Kandar Line Clear should be one of the prominent Nasi Kandar restaurants in Penang.

That should conclude my short trip to Penang and Kedah this time, and hopefully there will more trips to Penang International Airport after this.

BLOGGING FROM PENANG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

I am sitting in the departure hall in Penang International Airport, waiting for boarding time. This should be the end of my short weekends 2D1N in Penang and Kedah. The primary itinerary was to attend a wedding invitation in Jitra, but as usual, there were other activities to complement.

I managed to visit Entopia of Penang, went to have gastronomic adventures at popular places and at someone's home, visited Tanjung Dawai and most importantly, got to see more friends this time.

Good bye Penang for now. I will be seeing more of you later, if not sooner.

PENANG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AT A GLANCE

25th MARCH 2018 ~ Penang International Airport should be the second busiest airport in the country after KLIA. It is much bigger than Senai Airport in Johor Bahru. This place witnesses many international flights going into and out of the country.

I was lucky as my ex-student of SMKTUN, Mr. Mohd. Syukor Ismail (and his family), drove me all the way to the airport from Kulim. Therefore, I had to skip the "amazing race" kind of adventure trying to get to the airport on time.

It was finally time to actually bid farewell to Penang, and Kulim too. I hope I can pay another visit to the island and other places nearby some other time in the future, and plan for more reunions.

HOME SWEET HOME - AFTER THREE AMAZING DAYS IN GEORGETOWN AND KULIM

Three days of fun-filled moments with friends and relatives are finally over.

This trip is different from all other previous travel as old friends were reunited. And there were just too many activities involving eating going on. I am quite sure I arrived home fatter.

Do expect to read more about my first (ever) to Penang real soon. I have to bid Penang goodbye for now.
