THE UPM TESL POST WEDDING RECEPTION MINI REUNION AT QBISTRO DAMANSARA

8TH AUGUST 2026 ~ After attending the wedding the night before, a mini reunion with a few people of UPM TESL Class of 1993 was held. The chosen venue was QBistro Restaurant in Damansara, located at Lotus's Damansara.

The participants of the gathering were seven old friends and three of their spouses.

It was only a short stay at the rebranded Mamak. Four of them had to make their way home to Kuantan right after [the shopping slot at the mall next door]. Guess I will have to wait for another wedding so that I could meet them again after this.

THE BRUNCH DATE WITH EX-SCHOOLMATES AT BRICKS & BUTTER IN KUALA LUMPUR

6th JULY 2026    ~ I was in Kuala Lumpur attending a wedding reception on Sunday [READ HERE]. It was time for three good friends of SMS Muar since many years ago to hold the second meeting of the year. The first meeting happened in May in Johor Bahru [READ HERE].

This time Puan Adura Adnan introduced us to one posh restaurant in Ampang called Bricks and Butter in Linc building.

Everything about the place looked expensive to me, even the cakes and pastries that welcomed us at the entrance.

We met at 10:30 a.m. so brunch it was. We had had Northeren Indian food which consisted of mains of Briyani and flat bread.

Excellent food and awesome company of old friends, the gathering lasted for 2 hours and the meeting was adjourned to another unspecific date in the future.

THE SHORT BRUNCH SESSION AT AEON PERMAS JAYA

I needed to get my [new] car tinted somewhere in Permas Jaya. That would require about two hours of waiting so Mr. Faiz suggested that we went to get brunch at AEON Permas Jaya which was nearby.

Even though I had been to the mall many times, I had never had any meal at the food court there.

I decided to try the food from the AEON kitchen: rice and beef dendeng [sliced meat cooked in chili and spices], and it was good. The portion of the meat is big but the price was still reasonable.

I regret coming here as I will after this go back to this place at least to get its Teh Tarik. Mind you, these days it is not easy to get a good glass of Teh Tarik.

THE BRUNCH SESSION IN KUANTAN WITH TESL FRIENDS

26TH JANUARY 2026    ~ When we were in Kuantan attending a TESL friend's daughter's reception [READ HERE], Puan Aunillah Hilmi was kind enough to invite us to her lovely house in Bandar Indera Mahkota for brunch the next day.

Puan Aunillah, her husband and daughter were ready to entertain us when we arrived at about 9:30 a.m. The dining table was already filled with all kind of delicious food, waiting for us.

Nasi Dagang

We even had a piano recital performance after eating.

Marvellous food, great company, endless chatting session. We could only leave after the Zohor prayer time as we had other excursion activity right after.

I got to thank Puan Aunillah Hilmi and her family one more time for having us at her home for brunch. It was indeed another memorable TESL gathering in Kuantan.
