BLOGGING FROM LANGKAWI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The exact destination is Penang International Airport, but the AirAsia flight is diverted to Langkawi International Airport instead due to bad weather. The plane has landed for refuelling and the door is already opened, but there is no instruction to leave the ship.

As for now, people are queueing up for the bathroom. I wonder how long are we going to be stuck here before we are allowed to fly back to Penang. Will update later.

UPDATE:
We finally left Langkawi International Airport after an hour.
The first attempt for touchdown at Penang International Airport failed, and the plane had to circle and went for the second touchdown and thank god, we managed to land safely.
I got my Grabcar from the Airport at 4:30 p.m. heading straight to the hotel in Kepala Batas. The traffic congestion was real bad as it was time for people to get home from work and the jam was terrible on Friday afternoon. Eventually, I did my check in at 7:00 p.m. What a long day for me.

BLOGGING FROM AA AK6423 AT PENANG INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

I am now officially stuck in a stationary aeroplane for 2 days, 22nd - 23rd December 2024 at Penang International Airport.
The plane should depart at 22:40 but there was a technical problem. The aerobridge could not be detached from the aircraft.

Let's wait for the drama to unfold.

At about 00.10, we were asked to deplane and passengers are crowding the counter for the reason I don't know. Someone just told me we have now to wait until 08:30.

FINAL UPDATE:
It was true after all that we had to board the next flight at 8:30 a.m. AirAsia offered accommodation to passengers who decided to wait for the next flight but I was informed later that there was not enough place for everybody.
People like me who had checked baggage had to get out of the departure hall to collect our bags, and repeat the same check-in process later. Some of the passengers who were without any checked bags decided to stay in the lounge [and were given free "nasi kandar" at 4:00 a.m. and I did not get that]. The locals went back home and returned to the airport later. A few opted to cancel their present flight for refund or change of flights on different dates and time.
To everybody's relief, we were asked to board another plane to take us home to Johor Bahru as scheduled. We were also given free breakfast of either McD chicken or fish burger, and a bottle of mineral water.

That was how I had to spend one sleepless night at Penang International Airport, and could be one of the trips to be remembered for a long time.

AN AERIAL VIEW OF JOGJAKARTA FROM THE AEROPLANE

This were the photos taken from the window of AirAsia AK346 Kuala Lumpur-Jogjakarta. The sky was clear so we could see Jogjakarta from high up in the sky.

The airport is located in the city centre, really near to houses and shops. To get into the airport, you just have to turn into the junction to arrive at the airport gate. I even felt that the runaway was not that long for landing and take off.

I was told by the tour guide, the airport will be moved real soon at a place further away from the city. Hopefully, the new facility will be ready soon before I make a return. :)

THE MISSING BAG IS BACK

I could not get my luggage bag upon arrival in KLIA2 from Chiang Mai on Sunday, 20th December 2015 [read: I lost my bag].

I was waiting for my bag at the carousel - from the first bag that appeared on the conveyor belt, right to the very last one, but my bag was nowhere to be seen.

I had a bus to catch to take me to JB at 10:10 a.m. so I could not wait any longer. I lodged a report at the AirAsia counter for missing bags (and things like that) and ran to the bus terminal, like the scene from the "Amazing Race" reality TV show. There was no point waiting in the first place as the staff would need a lot of time to search for it and there would be no guarantee they could find the missing item immediately.

There was nothing much to be done except to pray hard I would get back my belonging.

And today, after 2 days, a staff from AirAsia called, informing me that the bag had been found. I voluntarily went to Senai Airport to pick it up even though the person could personally drop the bag on my doorstep. (I was in school at that time so it was not that far actually to get to the airport.)

Alhamdulillah, thank you Allah, for now I could already start planning for my next trip with the ease of mind.

*NOTE: on March 2014, I lost my luggage bag on my way home from Krabi. That happened when the taxi that sent me home simply drove off with my bag in the car boot after I had paid him and got out of the car. And the rest was history.
