AQIQAH EVENT ONE SATURDAY AFTERNOON

24th AUGUST 2019 ~ I was invited by ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Hafizuddin Abd. Wahid [SPM batch 2004] and his younger brother, Mr. Syarifuddin Abd. Wahid [SPM batch 2010], to an aqiqah event. It was held at their parents' house in Taman Universiti and the aqiqah was for Mr. Hafizuddin's third child.

I arrived there at 3.00 p.m. and there were not many people, just an ex-student, Ms. Yanie Zin [and this was her FB's name] with her husband and kids.

I have to thanks both the siblings for their kind thoughts of inviting me over. I hope there will be more chances to attend similar events, or any other occasions, in the future at their place.

OF A HOUSE VISIT AND MEE BANDUNG MUAR

19th JULY 2019 ~ You don't have to wait for Eid to visit your ex-teacher, or for a busload of friends because that is not going to happen. Two ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti were here for a casual visit, as someone had missed the trip that should be done for Eid.

Then it was time to introduce them to the famouse Mee Bandung Muar but not in Muar and only in Kampung Melayu for dinner.

Thanks Mr. Izamuuddin Azhar and Mr. Mohd. Afif Farhan Zulkifli [SPM batch 2010] for spending the time with me. Looking forward to a more adventurous kind of activity after this.

THE POST EID VISIT 1440H - PART TWO

6th JULY 2019 ~ A group of ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti of SPM batch 2010 came visiting this evening. Eid was already over but how could you say "no" when people still wanted to come over. Now that a few of them are already married, there should more important people to be visited during the festive season. Apart from that, as they are all already working, leisure time is more limited now.

Another factor was they still insisted to come in a big group, hence the delay in getting people to gather together for the visit.

Thanks for coming but I am setting a high expectation for future Eid visits though. There are already people who just disappeared this year. Now that they have grown up, there are more responsibilities and less time to socialize I suppose.

THE POST EID VISIT 1440H - PART ONE

Even though Eid was already over, there were people who still wanted to come over to visit, which I would never say "no".

The first guests who came in the afternoon, all the way from Kuala Lumpur were Puan Noor Fatihah Hamid and her other family members - the husband, both the parents, her younger sister and the niece. She could not visit during Eid as she was still in confinement during the month of Syawal. Puan Noor Fatihah is an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti and her sister Miss Liyana Hamid is from SPM batch 2010 but it was her first time visiting.

I was glad to get the chance to meet the new addition to the family and hope to see her grow up every year as she grow older when they come visiting for Eid.

The next guests to arrive were an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, Puan Rokiah Junoh, and her husband, Mr. Abdul Rahman. They had not visited for quite some time actually but they no strangers to me and my family.

And there is a bigger group who would be coming later in the evening.

THE 28th DAY OF EID 1440H

On the second last day of Eid this year, two visitors, Puan Fauziah Mohd. Noor and Mr. Muhammad Afif Farhan, a mother and son, came over. Puan Fauziah is an ex-colleague of SMK Taman universiti while Mr. Afif is an ex-student of the same school [SPM batch 2010]. There was some sort of miscommunication earlier but they decided to still come in the evening.

Glad they still could make it before the Eid comes to its end. I wonder whether they would be the final visitors to my house this year.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - CENDOL HOUSE IN KAMPUNG MELAYU

26th MARCH 2019 ~ How could I say "no" when someone offered a cendol treat on a very hot afternoon. Finally, I was at this place called "Cendol House" in Kampung Melayu which I regularly drive past but never stop in my entire life.

CENDOL ~ green jelly made from rice flour submerged in coconut milk and palm sugar with other condiments like red beans, and most importantly, served with grated ice. It is usually eaten as dessert, or just taken on a hot day.

There was also other food to choose from to accompany the cendol like Malaysians all time favourite, the famous fried banana, or heavier item like "nasi lemak".

Thanks Mr. Muhammad Afif Farhan Zulkiflee [SMKTUN's ex-student SPM batch 2010] for the cendol treat. However, the brief meeting continued with another unplanned activity right after.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - CHICKEN CHOP FOR LUNCH AT BIGFOOD

After rescheduling the lunch date for a few times with Mr. Doctor wannabe, we managed to sit down and chat at Big Food Restaurant in town. We both chose chicken chop - mine with potato and coleslaw while Mr. Haran Mohanadas [SMKTUN SPM batch 2010] chose his with fried rice.

We took about an hour to finish the big portion of food on the plate, and tried to keep ourselves updated with all the current news of people we know but that was not that much actually. The food was alright except it came in a big quantity. My honey lemon tea was super sweet and it was still extra sweet after I requested for more water to be added into my glass.

We need to go and try other place to eat in the future. Enough of Bigfood for now.
