ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF ANNOR RAIHAN

Another ex-student marrying his schoolmate and I was invited to the wedding reception of the groom's side, Mr. Annor Raihan Abd. Rahman who chose Ms. Aida Hazwani as his lawful, beloved wife. Mr. Annor is from SPM batch 2012 while Ms. Aida of 2013, of SMK Taman Universiti. [correct me if I am wrong]

The event was held at Setia Covention Centre in Setia Tropica. There were not many people anymore when I arrived there at about 3:00 p.m.

There was also the other Mr. Annor, the groom's elder brother, who is also an ex-student of mine.

ATTENDING A WEDDING RECEPTION ON THURSDAY

It is rare for people to hold a wedding reception on Thursday but today is a public holiday for the birthday of Prophet Muhammad [PBUH] so technically people are not working and could attend the invitation. Puan Masturi Abdul Aziz, the staff of SMK Dato' Jaafar, was having the wedding reception for her daughter at her house in Taman Sri Tebrau.

I was there at 12.00 noon and there were not many people around, and still met a few colleagues from school.

Congratulations Puan Masturi for being a mother-in-law (again), and there seem to be more receptions to be held in the future.

SANDWICHES FOR LUNCH AFTER SCHOOL

It is a 4-day school week and we will be having a longer weekends as the Prophet Muhammad's [PBUH] birthday falls on Thursday. A group of colleagues [of SMK Dato' Jaafar] decided to grab some sandwiches at Subway Restaurant in Pelangi Plaza right after school.

The place was empty when we arrived so we dominated most of the space there. In fact, the whole mall was quite empty and this similar environment could be seen in all the malls in the city. Business has been very bad and there should be some negative impact to the nation's economy.

Once all the food was gobbled down, it was time to head home before we will see each other again in school next Sunday. Thanks to the one who paid for the meal and we will try to gather again after school after this.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - WOODFIRE'S NEW PLACE

Someone wanted to have a burger for lunch and who was I to disagree. Mr. Syazwan Shavarein suggested going to Woodfire where homemade, juicy, huge burgers are served. Since there was a new branch which had been opened at Bukit Indah so I suggested we go there to check it out.

The new restaurant is located in Millisime Hotel building, somewhere near Bukit Indah area. When we arrived, the place was full with people although it was already 3:00 p.m. However, service was fast and the place was more comfortable (and air-conditioned) than the first one in Taman Suria.

Lunch was done faster than the time spent waiting. Everything was good and we were happy with the burgers we had. Thanks Mr. Syazwan for the company for lunch and please make sure the next gastronomic adventure will happen soon.

HAVING BREAKFAST AT WARUNG SAGA

3rd OCTOBER 2020 ~ I had always wanted to come to this Warung Saga and finally, Puan Sakinah and her family members from Seremban, took me here. Shouldn't it be the other way around?

I just ate the Lontong Kering which had already been served on the table when I arrived. There were not many people eating early in the morning so it was a relief as the place was not that spacious.

I wanted to try Laksa Johor as I heard good review about it so I took it away to be eaten at home. It was actually a disappointment as the taste of the Laksa was not the way it should be.

That should be the last gastronomic adventure we had before my friends returned home. I guess we had tried most of the food that we had planned to eat and for one thing, there should be other items on the menu worth hunting. I hope they will come back for more some other time, later if not soon. It is always my pleasure to play host to friends who are in town.

TO THE BOOKSHOP, TO THE BOOKSHOP - TO TAKE PHOTOS

2nd OCTOBER 2020 ~ Finally there is a bookshop in town that has attracted a lot of people - NOT to buy books but to strike as many possible poses against books displayed on bright book shelves.

Located at the latest attractions in the city, Sunway Big Box, BookXcess had made people pose inside the shop more than other bookshops in Malaysia. The photos of people striking all sorts of poses just keep popping up on my Facebook timeline so I decided to take my friends there too when they came visiting. And it was actually my first time here.

There were thousands of books to choose and I would love to come back to this place to have a closer look at the reading materials on the racks. I have to bear in mind though that I still have unread books which were bought a few years ago at home.

If I am not mistaken, BokkXcess is brought to you by the same company which organized the Big Bad Wolf Book Fair nationwide. And if that is the case, the prices of the books here should be cheaper/reasonable.

Let's together hope this particular bookshop will survive the C-19 pandemic and will be here to stay for many more years.

SUNWAY BIG BOX - THE LATEST ATTRACTION IN TOWN

3rd OCTOBER 2020 ~ Sunway Big Box should be the latest attraction in town even though it is tucked away a bit further away from the city. Located at Nusajaya Iskandar Puteri, other than  the shopping outlets, people go the just to actually to take photo at one particular bookstore there. [READ HERE LATER]

The place is huge. From my observation, there are two wings: the east and west. If you want to get to the bookstore, then make sure you park your car at the right place or else you have to walk from one wing to the other which is quite a distance. That was what we had to do when we were there.

We made a stop at Burger King there just for coffee, before the long pilgrimage we had to make in search of the so-called Instagrammable bookshop.

There were also booths selling all sorts of items along the corridor and outside, a car boot sale was going on at the parking lot.

*fans are everywhere*

I did not have enough time to explore the place more but my greatest worry is whether this place could survive the Covid-19 pandemic especially when the Johor-Singapore border is not opened. There are just too many shops that have closed down in the malls all around the city as business is already hit hard by the crisis. Just hope that this place could still exist in many more months to come.
