EXPLORING THE MORNING MARKET OF CHIANG RAI

If you really want to mingle with the locals, the best place to go is the wet market. I made the effort to wake up early and be on the street when it was still empty and had the whole town to my own. I had already located the market the day before and it was near the mosque area.

When I arrived there, the market was already buzzing with activities. People were there to get their daily supplies of fish, meat, fruits and vegetables. The choices of fruits sold in the market were just amazing - fresh and cheap.

I was truly ecstatic to find Muslim ladies selling halal food and I had breakfast Chiang Rai style that morning.

I wish I could buy all the fruits to bring back home but I still had a few more days to be in Thailand, so I had to buy them later in Chiang Mai.

THE LAUNCHING OF "EAT MORE LOCAL FRUITS" CAMPAIGN FOR STATE LEVEL

18th AUGUST 2015 ~ A programme organized by FAMA (Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority) was held in SMK Medini. A few primary and secondary school were chosen to take part in "Eat More Local Fruits" Campaign by participating in competitions like Preparing Fruits Dessert, Designing T-Shirt, Explorace and Essay Writing.

I was there to represent the school's Principal for the closing ceremony and this one major event.

eat all you can

The last part of the event was everyone was given local fruits such as durian, "rambutan" and "pulasan" to be eaten FOR FREE. I guess everybody went home happily after that. I guess I had eaten too much durian and that would be a record-breaking moment for me.

Thanks FAMA for the programme and free fruits. I will try to eat more local fruits after this for sure.
