PRIMARY SCHOOL REUNION - AFTER 42 YEARS

Initially, a friend who came from Sungai Petani, Kedah, announced he was in town. Immediately, a short reunion session with other classmates/schoolmates of Sekolah Temenggong Abdul Rahman [2] a.k.a STAR(2) was planned.

Five people who were once classmates 42 years ago were reunited at Kacang Pool Haji, Larkin Bomba. The gathering took about 3 hours and the topics of discussion were surprisingly varied - from the unforgettable childhood moments in primary school to politics and current issues, as well as real live paranormal sightings and experiences at a few spots in town.

Thanks everyone for the time. Hopefully we could do this again with more people in the future.

WHEN AN EX-COURSEMATE WAS IN TOWN AGAIN

Mr. Ridwan Wahid, an ex-coursemate of UPM TESL class of 1993, and his family members were back in town and it was the time to meet up again. We decided to go for dinner and I couldn't believe it I had not introduced them to the popular Kacang Pool Haji at Larkin Bomba.

It was just a short meeting as it was getting late but we would be going for breakfast together tomorrow. 😀

ROOMMATES REUNITED - AFTER 28 YEARS

28 years ago when I was in my second year of Matriculation, I had a roommate in 4th College, Universiti Pertanian Malaysia. However, we shared a room only for a year and after he graduated, we were just too busy with our own lives and had no contact whatsoever. Communication technology was not that advanced at that era. Then we got connected again on Facebook, and after that Whatsapp but we still rarely communicated, what more to have the chance to get to see each other.

Today, when he sent me his location in town via Whatsapp, I quickly responded. Initially, I was not sure setting up a meeting could be possible as we both had a tight schedule these few days - he with his training and I with all my regular school-related activities. I guess NOW would have to be the moment as there could not be no other opportunity to be reunited again. It was definitely worth the effort. 28 years is a long period but he has not changed a bit.

Thanks Mr. Luqman M. Said for the short rendezvous, and really hope to see you again some other time in the future - either in JB or KL.

SPENDING MY SUNDAY MORNING AT THE FIRE STATION

SUNDAY 28th APRIL ~ A group of "Kadet Bomba" (Fire Brigade Cadet) boys and girls went to Larkin Fire Station to undergo training sessions with the assistance and guidance of a few officers there. We will be taking part in the state level competition tomorrow. These students have been training throughout the week and they are going to compete in two events: knots and first aid.

There are a lot of other skills a fireman has to master, not just to put out fire. Aren't they lucky to be taught such skills much earlier?

Just pray my students will not forget what they have learned. And most importantly, hope that they will not panic during the competition. Good luck, everybody!

SPENDING A SATURDAY MORNING AT THE FIRE STATION

A few of the Kadet Bomba boys were directed to the Larkin Fire Station for marching practice that has something to do with the coming national level camping activity. I was not that happy actually as only five students from my school were chosen in the camping (despite all the promises) but more were put in for the marching event during the opening ceremony.

Things were not that organized and only HALF of the platoon members were there. The officers were trying to get many different schools to be involved in the whole thing and this was the result. Not much could be done though while we were there and we were let off by 12, thank God for that. And we would have to be there again the day after tomorrow. *sigh*
