CHILDREN'S, DISABLE'S AND SENIOR CITIZEN'S DAY CELEBRATION FOR JOHOR STATE LEVEL

I went to attend another programme organized by Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat [TRANSLATE: Welfare Department. This time it was Children's, Disable's and Senior Citizen's Day - some kind of 3-in-1 event, which in a way could save a lot of cost. The activity was held at Persada Johor International Convention Centre and the guest of honour was the Crown Princess, Che' Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor.

As usual, there were stalls and booths outside the main hall, at the foyer of the building. However, I just went to see the animals at the Mini Zoo, which was the main attraction.

There were not many people that I knew who were present.

Even the people at the dining table were those I was not familiar of so there was not much conversation taking place.

Surprisingly, I got to attend this kind of event more frequently after I have retired.

There were also a number of musical performances presented on stage. Unfortunately, I did not get a clear view from my seats as everything was blocked especially by people standing in front.

It was an afternoon well spent at Persada Johor. It was good to attend a formal event once in a while as I got the chance to wear my long sleeve Batik shirt.

JOHOR'S INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF ISLAM AND HALAL IN TOWN

31st MARCH 2019 ~ There was this Johor's International Festival of Islam and Halal held at Persada Johor last weekends. I managed to get there on the very last day right after school.

The main attraction was the artifact of the Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) Exhibition which was done at one of the wings of the hall. The place was quite small actually for such a huge crowd.

The veils of the Kaabah were indeed very beautiful and many people were seen taking photos here even though there was a "NO CAMERA" sign could be seen there. And people were still touching the exhibit despite the fact there was a "DO NOT TOUCH" sign pinned on it.

I

The booths promoting and selling their (halal) products and services were put in the bigger and more comfortable hall. I think the exhibition of the artifacts should be placed here instead of the spot outside the hall.

I was there for like an hour but it was something new to have a festival like this once in a while. The response from the public was also encouraging so there could be similar event organized in the future.

A COURSE, AN ANNUAL LUNCH AND A WEDDING - IN ONE DAY

 I N - H O U S E  T R A I N I N G

The third in-house training for teachers was held again in CTL, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. It had to do with something with the theme of "Loving Teachers". I only managed to listen to the second speaker's talk. I was too tired from the previous trip to KL to get up earlier.

Once the course was ended, everybody made their way to Persada Johor for the KEBIRUS (Teachers and Staff Club). Two buses were chartered to get the people who did not want to drive there. The annual lunch was held at Restoran Selasih there.

The good news: the Principal was not there and there was no bad news. We had the usual things: speeches, lucky draws and most of the time, eat till you drop. We also had a short slot for Puan Lee Kim Luan who will be retiring in December. She delivered a short but sweet speech and a few presents were handed over as our token of appreciation.(There will be a more formal and elaborate function for her next week.)

lucky for them, unlucky for me

Congratulations to the committee members who had made the event a success. Now we have to wait for another year for a similar event.

W E D D I N G

This was one event I could not miss. One reason was because I received continuous SMS alerts as well as a phone call from Mr. Radin Mohd. Hafiz, an ex-student who is now a policeman, reminding me to attend his sister's wedding (value: determination). Even though it was raining and I was a bit too full to eat, I was looking forward to meet my ex-student the policeman.

By the end of the day, and after the eating spree I had in Kuala Lumpur a few days before, I am getting really worried to get on the weighing scale. *sigh*
