GOING KOREAN FOR DINNER AT SHAH ALAM

7th AUGUST 2026    ~ There was no specific plan for the gastronomic adventure is Shah Alam. We ended up going Korean in Dubuyo in Plaza Shah Alam which was just beside the hotel where we were staying.

There were not many people in the mall and only one or two tables in the restaurant were occupied.

We both had a big bowl of seafood noodles that came together with three types of kimchi. I think the dish was called Buldak Boomyeon.

I couldn't remember when I last had Korean food. Guess I will have to visit my favourite Korean restaurant in Johor Bahru one day.

THE GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE IN LITTLE BANGI AT BANGI GATEWAY

27TH APRIL 2024   ~ Another attraction that I could see right from my room window in Bangi Gateway was the Food Court selling Street Food. This place is known as Little Bangi [I asked one of the sellers] and there are rows of stalls selling all kinds of food that you could imagine.

I could see there were limited seats for people who decided to dine in. Most visitors had take away and not many were eating at the designated areas when I was there.

You had to be strong when you were there ~ the temptation to buy everything was not easy to resist.

I had this Korean bread with meat filling, known as Hotteok, [the original Hotteok should be sweet] and fried mushroom and that was all for dinner.

The other section of the place consisted stalls selling non-food items and many were not operating when I walked around the area.

Make sure you stop by at Little Bangi when you are there if you think of going on a gastronomic adventure. I am planning to get back there again one more time real soon.

GOING EAT-ALL-YOU-CAN KOREAN ONE FRIDAY AFTERNOON

15TH SEPTEMBER 2023 ~ It was getting extremely difficult to get all the gossip girls to sit together at the same time nowadays so we had to make do with the few available. This time we decided to go Korean and it was an eat-all-you-can session at K-Town, located at Holiday Villa building in Johor Bahru.

This should be the place for people who could: [1] eat a lot, or [2] gossip non-stop, or [3] both.

Being a first-timer there, I had nothing to complain. Surprisingly, I loved the hot Chrysanthemum Tea the most. And I don't mind going back there again.

This time, we had a photo shoot session outside the restaurant. At one moment, we imagined we were in Kundasang, Sabah. The next moment, we were already in Busan, South Korea. And a few people were deceived with the photos posted on Facebook.

Thanks people for the buffet lunch. Let's plan for the next gathering ASAP.

MORE EATING OUT SESSION FOR THE LONG WEEKENDS

What better way to celebrate the long weekends other than eating and hanging out with friends? This time the last minute choice for lunch was Dari Korean Restaurant in Setia Tropika. This should be a shift from the regular KFry outlet we used to go to in town for Korean food.

We had all the Korean food that I did not know the names but that was alright.

THE VERDICT: I still prefer KFry to this newly discovered place but I don't mind coming again.

There was this HALAL logo on the door so you could always eat with confidence.

Then someone wanted to have coffee so we marched off to the Starbucks cafe which was just nearby.

Happiness was when you got to see an ex-student working in the cafe [again] and he voluntarily paid for your coffee. Thanks a lot Mr. Zul, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti. This should be my third time meeting him while he was working and he could still remember the place where we met for the first and second meeting.

Thanks a lot to my adventurous gastronomic friends who are always happy to eat and sit and chat for long hours. There were others who were missing but it would be hard these days to get all the gossip girls to gather at the same time.
