VISITING THE WAR MUSEUM IN PENANG

25th FEBRUARY 2024    ~ One place that I had never been to in Penang was its War Museum. I had been in Penang a few times already so I had to list down the tourist spots that I had never visited. When I arrived, there were not many people. The entrance fee was RM22 for a local resident. One thing which I did not expect was the size of this tourist attraction.

Things you need to know before going:

[1] You need to have a pair of strong feet as you would be walking along a long distance treks, going up and down the hills. After paying RM22 I had no choice but to climb up all the way up the steep steps and walk down. There seemed to be no short cuts as you had to follow the one way directions to get to all the places in the museum.

[2] Bringing along your bottled water would be a great idea as the only place where you could get drinking water was at the ticket counter.

There was one spot in the museum where you could get a scenic view of Penang Second Bridge.

[3] This place was not for the faint-hearted. There were places that were quite spooky and I could feel the negative vibes, especially those dark rooms in the hill or the small tunnel that led to nowhere. Unfortunately, visitors were left on their own to explore the place, no staff or officers at all when I was there. In case of emergency, one would be left there unattended.

You can get more information about this place HERE.

I felt much slimmer after getting out of this place and prayed I did not do any damage to my knees. It was an interesting visit to the real World War ll remnants. It reminded me of my trips to similar places in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam long time ago.

THE SHORT SUPPER SESSION AT ONN'S KITCHEN

This was a supper session at Onn Kitchen. I never knew this place operated at night too as I used to come here only in the morning or afternoon before this. Guess Mr. Mohd. Ariff Nizam, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, knew better than me when it came to eating places in town.

So I had Roti Jala while Mr. Ariff ate Lempeng for supper.

Simple food that made happy tummies. There should be one more place we should be going next time for our gastronomic adventure.

ENJOYING CENDOL IN THE HEART OF THE CITY

25TH FEBRUARY 2024 ~ After walking around in the art gallery (and walking back and forth from the parking space to the Art Gallery building under the hot, scorching sun}, it was time to quench our thirst. There was this van selling Cendol, hence that should be the best choice we had.

GLOSSARY:
Cendol is an iced sweet dessert that contains droplets of pandan-flavoured green rice flour jelly. coconut milk and palm sugar syrup.
~ source: Wikipedia ~

We went to a nearby food court to enjoy our dessert cum beverage where there were proper table and seats. Luckily the stalls there were not operating yet.

Nothing beat having the cold, sweet and creamy Cendol in Georgetown in the middle of the day. It was a spontaneous action to buy but there was no regret.

VISITING SMK TAMAN UNIVERSITI ONE AFTERNOON

I went to SMK Taman Universiti this afternoon for an official matter. Of course, I went to meet many old friends and took some photos with them.

Glad to get to see people whom you once worked with and became friends up until now.

GOING ARTSY FARTSY IN GEORGETOWN

25TH FEBRUARY 2024 ~ We needed to go somewhere cooler and air-conditioned so we opted for Penang Art Gallery in the city centre.

I didn't mind going as I used to visit galleries when I went for my holiday abroad.

In fact, I loved to observed all the work of art with a tinge of envy, wondering how could people be very talented in producing such products.

It was a small gallery and we spent about an hour inside. Visiting an art gallery was something that I had never done with Mr. Ridwan Wahid and his family. Didn't we need a new activity once in a while rather than the endless gastronomic adventure? 😀
