MEE GORENG PANGGUNG WAYANG IN MERSING

8th AUGUST 2023    ~ My very first gastronomic adventure in Mersing started with a brunch. My friends took me to this stall named Mee Goreng Panggung Wayang [TRANSLATE: Cinema Fried Noodles]. It was believed that the same stall operated many years ago in a cinema in Mersing and was very famous for its delicious fried noodles.

Two people ordered fried noodles while two others decided to have Laksa Sarang.

One had to be patient when visiting this eating place as the staff took a long time to get the food served even though there were not many customers at that time. I took the opportunity to go to the seaside opposite the stall.

The food finally arrived and it was actually worth the time waiting. I am not a fan of Laksa Penang but the food sold here would be something I would recommend to others. That should be a good start to my few gastronomic adventures during my 3-day stay in Mersing.

NOTE: search for "panggung cafe mersing" on Google Maps

ATTENDING THE WEDDING RECEPTION OF ANOTHER TESL FRIEND'S DAUGHTER

The wedding venue was located somewhere in Taman Kota Masai, known as Rumah Pak Jamil. It was my first time there but I was familiar with the area as I was there with my friends one week ago to eat out [READ HERE]. Puan Kamisah Mohd. Ghazali is a friend of UPM TESL class of 1993 who is now residing and working in Johor Bahru. It was very thoughtful of her to invite me to the wedding reception of her daughter.

This time, there was not a single person that I knew or recognized. That, however, was not a problem at all. I got all the food I wanted, especially the Cucur Udang that was hot from the pan and the Grilled Mutton. Most importantly, I got to see an old friend of mine one more time even though we had no time to have a long chat. Hoping I would be invited again in the future.

A FAREWELL DINNER FOR [MALE] FRIENDS GOING AWAY TO OTHER SCHOOLS

15th AUGUST 2023     ~ Some male friends of SMK Taman Universiti, of the present and the past, gathered for dinner at Kedai Tomyan Ainoni in Pulai Perdana. The gathering was organized to bid farewell to three people who went away to other schools. They are: Mr. Mohd. Rifqi Mydin who is now in his hometown in Kelantan, Mr. Wee was transferred to SMK Damai Jaya while Mr. Abdul Rashid Lip was sent to SMK Mutiara Rini.

As usual, after dinner there was the speech-giving session for those who left the school and followed by the handing over of farewell presents.

More and more friends are leaving SMK Taman Universiti but hopefully we could at least see each other again in gathering like this.

As fora few, the dinner session extended to supper gathering past midnight at one Mamak restaurant in Taman Teratai. Then only I realized, I had not been staying up and spending my time outside this late for such a long time. Luckily it was not a school day the next day for us.

A SHORT COFFEE DATE AT PAPPA ROTI

It was a short coffee date with Mr. Firdaos Zulkifli, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, at Pappa Roti at Plaza Kotaraya, prior to the first meeting we had two weeks ago. [READ HERE]

Even though it was a work-related matter, seeing and talking with someone over coffee outside was always enjoyable. We might be seeing each other more if things work according to plan.

The very first group photo

26TH AUGUST 2023     ~ It was a wedding reception of the daughter of a classmate of UPM TESL Class of 1993. When a group of old friends came attending the event at about the same time, an expected reunion took place in the hall of MRSM Sultan Azlan Shah in Kuala Kangsar.

BFF in action

After graduating from Universiti Pertanian Malaysia a.k.a UPM for 30 years, guess the friendship still remain intact. We would now make sure the bond remain stronger by attending wedding receptions of our friends' children, if we are invited.
