WE FOUND "MEDAN" AT "LAPANGAN MERDEKA"

29th JANUARY 2017 ~ Adjoining Merdeka Walk, is a big park/open field called "Lapangan Merdeka". People were seen here sitting and enjoying the open area or busy taking photographs of themselves with either the gigantic alphabets that spelled "MEDAN" or the brightly and colourfully lit buildings in the background.

There were also hawkers selling toys, food or drinks on wheeled kiosks in the park.

This place is definitely the spot for visitors to pose to prove the "been there, done that" moment. I was glad I was brought to this place on my first day in the city.

MERDEKA WALK - THE PLACE TO HANG OUT FOR THE YOUNG (AT HEART) IN MEDAN

29TH JANUARY 2017 ~ The first place we went to in Medan after dinner was "Merdeka Walk" which is located in the city centre. That should be some kind of place to hang out in the evening for the young and young at heart. There were many people eating at the stalls and at the same time, there was free music performance and fashion show or beauty contest. We did not stay to watch but we just walked around the area.

There were many people at that time most probably because they were still enjoying their long weekends for Chinese New Year Celebration. This could be the only place people go to to get some (free) entertainment at the city in the evening anyway.

I even recorded a performance by the rap group which I will publish later.
