ATTENDING MR. AZWAN'S WEDDING RECEPTION

I was invited to another ex-student's wedding reception today held at GBW Hotel. Mr. Azwan Zolkeflee was an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, He is an alumnus of SMK Taman Universiti of SPM batch 2009. I was among the last guests to arrive and there were not many people left in the hall.

I met his younger brother, Mr. Hafizi, who attended the same school.

And there was an ex-student of the bridegroom's same batch, Mr. Huzaifah.

Congratulations to Mr. Azwan and his wife - my best wishes for a happy life together. 💕

ATTENDING NUR SYAFIQAH'S WEDDING RECEPTION

Today was the wedding reception of another ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti [SPM batch 2011] Ms, Nur Syafiqah Sulaiman. The event was held at GBW Hotel in town and I was there at about 3:00 p.m. I still managed to see a few ex-students there, including those who were the bridesmaids.

There were not many people by that time so I had more time and space to take photos with some familiar faces.

The funny thing is that I just got to know the bride has two elder brothers who are also my ex-students.

Wedding reception has been one of the common places where reunion happens.

Congratulations to Ms. Nur Syafiqah and Mr. Syahir, and may your life be filled with never-ending love with one another.

BIDDING FAREWELL TO UNCLE NATHAN

30th SEPTEMBER 2018 ~ On the last day of his official working day before retiring, everybody in school bade farewell to Mr. Mehanathan a.k.a Uncle Nathan, a non-academic staff who had been in SMK Dato' Jaafar for 20 years. A send-off event was done for him at the school hall before he left the school and was sent on a superbike to GBW Hotel, escorted by four other riders.

The Farewell Lunch was held at the Grand Gem Restaurant of GBW Hotel, and we went Indian this time.

Uncle Nathan was such a helpful and friendly person and I am sure he will be greatly missed by everyone. Thanks Uncle Nathan for everything. Wishing him all the happiness and health throughout the retirement days.

ANGKLUNG PERFORMANCE AT GBW HOTEL - PART TWO

[CONTINUATION OF PART ONE]

22nd MARCH 2018 ~ The welcoming performance was started at the entrance of the hall. I tried to turn around (while conducting)once in a while so I could see whether there were people watching us or not. This was just a short presentation, before we had to do the show for the bigger crowd on stage.

However, before that, the moment we all had been waiting there - dinner time. We shared the same food with the other party goers, and the boys were exhilarated for that.

We were then invited on stage for the main performance of the night. There was this super excited lady deejay who hosted the event. I believe we stole the spotlight when the crowd sang along to the songs we played on angklung. And the lady deejay was singing the last two songs on microphone and even danced to "Sway". She announced to the audience something like: "I just could not control".

We were happy that the audience were entertained.

And we were happier as we could wear our new "Baju Melayu Cekak Musang" attire, that pink set of costume, for the first time.

There will be one more performance this coming fortnight. We have to work harder for that.

I will have to personally thank Mr. Mohd. Zaheerman bin Sulaiman from GBW Hotel for giving us the opportunity to perform for the dinner. Hopefully we may see each other again after this.
