OBSERVING SCENIC JEJU FROM SEONGSAN ILCHULBONG

The best thing to do once you are on a higher ground facing the sea, much higher than the sea level that is, would be to enjoy the scenic view of the sea against the sky. Then, you would think how you wish you could stay there and there is no need to go back to work.

These flowers are called poppies. They are actually grown because the flowers are the source of crude drugs like morphine that contains medicinal value.

CLIMBING THE MAJESTIC SEONGSAN ILCHULBONG, HALFWAY

9th JUNE 2015 ~ This is the iconic landmark of Jeju Island. It is one of the new 7 wonders of the natural world. Seongsang Ilchulbong was formed because of hydrovolcanic (something to do with volcano and water) 5000 years ago. Now people come here either to climb to the peak (or the nearest point) and to enjoy the scenic view from atop of the hill.

This place was crowded with people, everybody happily climbing up (you must be kidding me). We did not go up further as we would need more time to do that. Luckily the weather had improved a bit so the sky was brighter at that moment.

We then went down the stairs to the bottom part of the hill where there was a beach, also filled with people who were mostly busy taking photographs.

We wanted to see the famous woman of Jeju divers who are well-known for their ability to dive into deep water in search of pearls without using any breathing apparatus. Unfortunately, the show was already over at that time.

There was also this one place where seafood was put on sale. And if I am not mistaken, people could get the seafood cooked on the spot to be eaten there.

Then we had to climb back up again to the other spot on the hill. *sigh*
