VISITING ORNAMENTAL FISH CENTRE IN PORT DICKSON

19TH OCTOBER 2026    ~ There was no proper plan during the short stay in Port Dickson and we just decided to visit Ornamental Fish Centre.

This place is under the management of the Fishery Department. It is opened every day [including weekends and public holidays] from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is no entry fee.

There are small exhibits of ornamental fish, corals and there are also turtles outside the building.

We enjoyed ourselves a lot here. However, since it is a free for all venue, do not expect too much especially if you have been to the bigger aquariums like in KLCC or Langkawi.

There are videos of the aquamarine creatures HERE and HERE, where you can see the the moving images of the fish.

VIDEO: ORNAMENTAL FISH CENTRE, PORT DICKSON - PART TWO

CONTINUATION OF PART ONE

A collection of short videos of the aquarium fishes [and turtles] at Pusat Ikan Hiasan [Ornamental Fish Centre] in Port Dickson, visited on 19th October 2026.

If you do not know where to go when in Port Dickson, this is one place you may consider. Not bad at all considering there is no entrance fee for visitors. Small kids will be easily entertained and they could spend more time observing the marine creatures.

SPENDING THE MORNING AT TANJUNG PANDAN TRADITIONAL MARKET

28th OCTOBER 2019 ~ In the morning of the very last day in Belitung Island, we made our way to the traditional market at Tanjung Pandan. It was the usual wet market, not meant for tourists. I could see some people were amused at the sight of us busy taking photos there.

The vegetables looked fresh, and the seafood was really fresh. Just wish I could buy some to bring back home, but that would not be a good idea when one was taking the plane to travel long distance.

Belitung's tempe [soy fermented cake]

Other than that, there were varieties of food for breakfast sold at the market. We did buy a few kinds, as we were curious how the food would taste like.

There was this man selling mousedeer meat caught from the island forest which should be something rare to us.

We managed to buy some food items and non-food items as well from the market to bring back home. We could not spend too much time as we had to catch a flight later on but the market should have more things to offer. Next time, if there is a next time.
