PMR SEMINAR FOR TIRAM ZONE (PASIR GUDANG PPD)

20th September ~ I was invited to another seminar cum workshop and this time it was organized by the Tiram Zone of Pasir Gudang District Education Office. 80 students from 8 schools attended this session and the organizer was SMK Desa Cemerlang which also played host for the day.

With about two more weeks before the PMR exam starts, I guess this should be the last talk for this year. I wish everyone the very best of luck but you will still have the time to study.

MEETING AN EX-STUDENT AT SMK DATO' JAAFAR

11th September ~ I was invited to give a talk to form three students of SMK Dato' Jaafar, Johor Bahru. However, the most exciting part was to meet an ex-student of SMKTUN, Mr. Christopher Emmanuel Raj, who is now a teacher there. Luckily he went to the canteen just before I was about to leave the school. And Christopher said he would give me a treat at KFC later. *yeay* And that's all for now, thank you.

"SKOR A" ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAMME FOR SCHOOLS OF PPD PONTIAN

Thursday, 5th September ~ I was invited to conduct a seminar for form three students of schools from Pontian district. However, I was given the task of explaining the do's and dont's of Paper 1 and Section A of Paper 2. Most of the time, I would just focus on Paper 2 when asked to give a talk. So I had to come up with a different practice module that could be used by the students throughout the session.

The venue chosen was the lecture hall located at N24 building in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia - comfortable and could accommodate hundred of students at one time.

There were about 500 students attending the programme. I was glad that I had come up with a practice module which required them to answer sets of questions taken from past years' PMR examinations. They were all very attentive and cooperative and I hope they would benefit from this 2½-hour slot.

with Puan Sabariah, the teacher in-charge

And I must declare the food that was prepared for the teachers was so far the best I had ever had for any seminar or talk given. I will not hesitate to come again next year if they are going to have food like this.

Good luck to all the students for the coming PMR examination and may you pass the English paper with flying colours.

PMR SEMINAR FOR JOHOR JAYA ZONE, PPD PASIR GUDANG

I was invited to conduct a seminar for form three students. The seminar was organized by SMK Taman Desa Tebrau who was put in-charge to hold the session for Johor Jaya zone under the Pasir Gudang PPD (District Office of Education).

There were approximately 120 students from a few schools in the zone. Participants were attentive and co-operative throughout the 2-hour session so the speaker was happy. Hopefully they would gain some benefits from the talk and get better grades for their English paper in the coming examination.

SMK SRI KUKUP REVISITED

with Mr. Hamidon and Mr. Fuad, the English Panitia Head

I was back at SMK Sri Kukup for the second time for a PMR seminar. I was glad to see an old friend (again), Mr. Hamidon whom I just saw a few weeks before at SMK Othman Saat. Congratulations on his promotion as the Senior Assistant of the Co-curriculum. The place is quite far actually but I hope one day I can go to explore Tanjung Piai nearby.

ENGLISH WORKSHOP FOR FORM 2 AT SMK DESA SKUDAI

This was one programme specially done for the form two students, talking about long term planning. So I was invited to conduct a 2-hour session for the form 2 students, but not from the high-achievers group. I was reluctant at first but the old friend, Mr. Ahmad Zaki kept persuading so I opted for a Sunday morning slot. I was happy enough the participants paid attention and followed the writing activities right until the end. I need to carry out similar programme for my school.

PMR SEMINAR IN MY OWN SCHOOL

[pictures taken from Puan Yusidah's FB]

So I started the PMR seminar for my own school this morning. As there are too many students, we have to divide them into three groups. Today was for the third group, which should consist of students of lower level of English proficiency. But thank god, majority of them behaved so the session went on as planned. THANK YOU to all who had listened and carried out the activities throughout and I pray that you will all do very well in the coming examination.

THE ROAD TOUR FOR 2011 HAS STARTED

I started my PMR seminar for the year 2011 today. Actually I was doing a friend who was not feeling well a favour by replacing him. So there I was at SMK Ayer Baloi, Pontian. There was a big hall so it was easy to conduct a talk or a seminar.

The event went well, majority of the students were listening attentively. So it was a good beginning, and it was always nice to see new place and new people once in a while.
