One of the prominent landmarks in Luang Prabang is the Monument of the first President, Kaysone Phom Vihane. There was a statue of the late president in a big compound and there was a garden by the Mekong River at the back.
We were the only tourists at that spot that afternoon and we spent just a short while there.
