GOING JAPANESE FOR THE NEXT GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE IN USJ

8th FEBRUARY 2025    ~ Puan Maslinda Mohd. Dahalan [a friend of UPM TESL Class of 1993] and her husband decided to go Japanese when we met up for dinner. I just agreed to whatever plan they had for me when I was in USJ.

The chosen eating place was Ramen Seirock-ya located in USJ21. There were not many people when we arrived there at about 7:00 p.m.

The last time I had Japanese food was during my trip to Kobe and Osaka last year in June. The couple also were also in Japan last year, perhaps they had missed eating Ramen too. We had to leave as it was getting late for our Maghrib [early evening] prayer and hopefully there will be a next gastronomic adventure soon.

THE GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE THAT HAPPENED IN BOOMTOWN

7TH FEBRUARY 2025    ~ A [UPM TESL Class of 1993] friend was kind enough to take me out for dinner when I was in USJ despite her busy schedule. She used to play host when I was staying in the USJ area. This time we went to mingle with the locals at this place called Boomtown which was a food court comprising many stalls selling variety of street food located in USJ11.

More and more people arrived as we were about to leave. We ate quite a lot but we were still happy to get fat together. Thanks to Puan Hazlina Aziz for the late dinner session. Please be ready for the next one because I shall return.

THE SHORT TEA TARIK SESSION WITH A NEW FRIEND

7TH FEBRUARY 2025   ~ My new friend came from Shah Alam for a short Teh Tarik [and Roti Canai] session when I was staying USJ. Mr. Rosman was the new friend I made during my trip to Italy and Austria in October 2024. He was the person who drove us around in the MPV throughout our stay there.

The chosen venue: Kayu Nasi Kandar, which was just behind the hotel where I was staying.

We managed to discuss a bit about our upcoming trip which is going to happen in about one week. We then plan to meet again for dinner before my flight home to Johor Bahru the day after next.

THE GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE AT THE MOSQUE

7TH FEBRUARY 2025    ~ One reason I like going to Al-Falah Mosque in USJ9, Selangor, is because there is a cafeteria there. Having lunch is convenient and I don't have to worry of not getting any seats. The secret: get lunch earlier before Friday prayer, after the prayer is done, as people need to be in the office at both times.

The main menu is Nasi Campur - rice with variety of dishes. My personal favourite is its Mutton Curry.
I will definitely come back to the cafe in the Al-Falah Mosque on Friday next time when I am there.

THE POST WEDDING RECEPTION SUPPER SESSION IN USJ

28TH DECEMBER 2024    ~ After the wedding reception in One City, two UPM TESL Class of 1993 friends, Puan Shamsul Niza Shamsuddin and Puan Fauziah Abdul Rahim, proposed that we met up for supper. They were not the people I regularly see during weddings or other gatherings so I had to say "yes" to the suggestion.

The chosen venue was Restoran Murni in USJ9 which was near my hotel. This was my second time visiting this place. I was taken to this place by another TESL friend last year. [READ HERE]

The restaurant was still crowded with people eating even it was already past 11:00 p.m.

It was only a short supper session as the three Cinderellas had to run back home as the clock had struck 12 midnight. Puan Fauziah had managed to finish doing her laundry at the 24-hour laundrette beside the restaurant - and two birds were killed with one stone. I had to thank the ladies for their time and I wonder when will be the next time we could do supper together again.

The only people I knew in the hall were my friend and her family members so I did not stay long once I had done with the buffet dinner. The food was good and I was prepared to eat more for the reception the next day and to meet more people [READ HERE].
