THE FROZEN ONES IN THE ICE BAR

4th December 2013 ~ This was the place visited before we left Queenstown the very next day. "Ice Bar" was actually a bar a.k.a a drinking place. Of course I was there not to drink and I was unaware that it was a bar after all. I thought it was just a place exhibiting something. :)

Anyway, what you could find here was actually everything made of ice. And all the ice sculptures were not just decorations or exhibits but they were functional too. Even the drinking glasses were made of real ice. Visitors were given a thick jacket (with animal furs) and we paid NZ$5 to enter here, and that was actually a discounted price given. So we just tried a few items like the chairs, and we already felt like the Eskimo.

It was not a good idea to stay long inside this place as they was no toilet to be seen. It was a short trip but we now know how does it feel to live in Greenland. Perhaps that should be my next destination.

OBSERVING QUEENSTOWN FROM A MUCH HIGHER GROUND

After "Puzzling World"in Wanaka, we went back straight to Queenstown as we had bought a ticket to get on a cable car ride at "Skyline".  So what we did was, just like other people there, to observe the beautiful Queenstown from a higher ground on the hill. I have already run out of words to describe the beautiful surrounding and I am sure these images would be imprinted in my mind for many more years to come.

 

The other activity that many people fancied doing was riding the luge, something like a go-cart without any engine that moved down the slopes. This was something that I was not informed earlier so I decided to give it a try since I had paid for it. It was such a scary experience for me - I thought I would be thrown out of the vehicle, roll down the hill and die that very instant. The second track, which was not for beginners definitely was more challenging and death-defying (I am exaggerating) so I only completed two out of four luge rides, which should be an achievement for me.

When you come to Queenstown, make sure you will visit the "Skyline". This should be a must-visit venue and I am sure you will enjoy both the cable car and luge rides, as well as the beautiful nature.

THE WORLD IS SUCH A PUZZLING PLACE

3rd December 2013 ~ "Puzzling World" is actually a Science Centre that only focuses on ONE major sub-topic out of the thousands possible chapters from the Science/Physics books: OPTICAL ILLUSION. Here, Science comes alive and whatever you have seen in your books before unfold themselves in front of you in a much bigger and believable scale. Situated in Wanaka, an hour drive away from Queenstown, this is a place suitable for both the kids and adults. You can always explore and get involved with the exhibits or activities and if you have more time, you should try to get into the maze here, as I heard some people had spent hours trying to find their way out, but we did not as we had only an hour to spend.

Even though I was never good in Physics when I was in school, I had enjoyed myself tremendously here. You don't have to get A+ for the subject to come here.
