ATTENDING A TAHLIL EVENT DURING THE WEEKEND

8th OCTOBER 2022 ~ Mr. Syazwan Shavarein, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, invited me to the Tahlil event at his house in Taman Skudai Indah which was done for the passing of his aunt recently. It was held after the Asar prayer and I had nothing else to do so I had no reason not to go.

[NOTE: "TAHLIL" is a special prayer held for someone who has passed away. Usually friends, neighbours and relatives are invited to join in the prayer.]

Unfortunately the traffic was heavy on Pasir Gudang Highway so I arrived late. Eventually, I was there to eat the food. There were also two other ex-students present to talk to and because of that, I could stay longer.

Thanks Mr. Syazwan for the kind though. Hope to see you again when you are back in town.

A "TAHLIL" EVENT FOR A FRIEND

19th JULY 2019 ~ A "tahlil" event was held by Mr. Sanusi Jusoh at his house in Taman Pulai Jaya specially for our dear friend, Mr. Mohd. Nasir Sardangi, who passed away on 15th July 2019. Male friends (and two female friends) of SMK Taman Universiti, the present teachers and staff, as well as those who have retired and have left the school, were there in the afternoon at about 5.00 p.m.

*NOTE* "tahlil" is a special prayer held for someone who has passed away.

May Allah bless the soul of Mr. Mohd. Nasir Sardangi and place him among the faithful and pious ones.

I am grateful to be in a circle of friends who are kindhearted and I still feel I belong to this group even though I am already in another school for five years. But one thing for sure, we will all miss our dear friend very much and may he rest in peace there.

THE 27TH DAY OF EID 1438H

21st JULY 2017 ~ I was at Dr. Azzad's [SMKTUN's SPM batch 2002] house right after "Maghrib" prayer to attend his open house for Eid at Fortune Hills. There were not many people at that time so I should have chosen the right time. His younger sister, Dr. Azaty Hamzah [SPM batch 2004] was also there and this was kind of our once a year only meeting for us.

Then I was off to Taman Universiti as I was invited to a "tahlil" and "aqiqah" ceremony hosted by Mr. Solleh [SPM batch 2006] and his family. The "aqiqah" was meant for the daughter of Mr. Zahari. There were many other ex-students who were present so the chit-chatting session dragged on and I had to force myself to leave before 11.00 p.m.

Two more days before Eid ends and I am already fatter. *sigh*

ANOTHER FAREWELL GATHERING FOR MR. SHAHBUDIN YUSOF

17th November 2015 ~ A mini farewell gathering was called at one of the stalls located at Taman Universiti. Friends from SMK Taman Universiti were there at about 9:00 p.m. Encik Shahbudin Yusof, the ex-principal of SMK Kangkar Pulai, who was also in SMK Taman Universiti before as the Head of Department, was invited as the guest of honour so as to wish him a happy retirement. [NOTE: Mr. Shahbudin was also my teacher when I was in SMS Muar a long time ago.] We had a short "tahlil" and prayer before eating.

I wonder when I retire later, people will do this kind of gathering for me. Or perhaps, by that time, we will all be scattered all over Malaysia already. *sigh* Anyway, I am always looking forward to good food and good company of friends. I will never say never.

THE 28th DAY OF EID 1436H - PART TWO

13th August 2015 ~ The last time I held a "tahlil" at home was during the month of "Syawal" two years ago. As the "imam" was available, friends from SMKTUN were invited to come over in the evening.

There were less people this time attending but it was still great to have the company of old friends from SMKTUN.
