THE PARK BESIDE YEOJWACHEON STREAM - PART TWO

24th MARCH 2019 ~ Changwon Naesumyon a.k.a NFRDI Eco Park is the place where one could just walk, sit and spend hours admiring the untouched beauty of mother earth. I was there a bit too early before the sakura got to bloom during its peak season. I bet it would look spectacular when the park would be covered bi the pink buds of the flowers. Guess I have to make a return trip some other time.

This place also looks awesome when autumn arrives and the leaves turn to their brown, red, orange and brown hues.

I spent longer time there without realizing
Even though it was not in the plan, it was worth every second to be there. This reminds me of a poem once taught to my students in school.

Leisure

W. H. DAVIES

WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—

No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:

No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:

No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:

No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:

No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?

A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.

MOVIE REVIEW - "INTERSTELLAR"

"Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light."

Dylan Thomas,
"Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night"

(the poem that was found in the character's lines in the movie)

A group of scientists were sent to outer space in search of a new place for humans to live in the future. It was a place too far away, somewhere near Saturn but beyond the black hole. Everything was very technical and complicated, especially towards the end and it had to do with time-travel. It looked very illogical to me and I guess you have to understand Quantum Physics to understand the whole thing. I never like Physics in school and that was one reason I switched to language and literature.

It was a sci-fi movie that was both entertaining and educational. If you like the movie "Gravity", I bet you will like this movie too. And you get to watch Anne Hathaway acting on the big screen again.

Thanks to Mr. Lufi Afiq for the movie outing. Let's see what will be the next movie that we should watch. I hope it'll be a live theatre performance next.

"MR. NOBODY" REPRODUCED

This was another assigned task to the Form One students from Set A1 English class. It could be a simple thing to do but some people did put a lot of effort in producing their best piece of work. There is no more putting up paper for display on the noticeboard now. To applaud for the students' hard-work and determination, these are the selected ones that have made their way into my blog. Congratulations people, keep up the good work!

M. SHANmughalingam's "HEIR CONDITIONING" REPRODUCED

The second poem studied in class for my form 2(Set A1) students and again, they were asked to reproduce the poem by adding in pictures and colours to the text or any other way to make it more interesting (read: creativity). As promised, the ones that I found impressive are published in my blog. Congratulations for a job well done! However, I am sorry I was in a hurry so I did not put the names of the owners of the work of art but I am sure you know which one is yours.

VALERIE BLOOM'S "THE RIVER" REPRODUCED

TOPIC: Poem "I Wonder" by Jeanne Kirby
OBJECTIVE: Students should be able to read and understand the poem by drawing pictures which are related to the poem.
TASK: Copy the poem and draw pictures which are related to its content.

This was just the first "big" assignment given to my form one students but I was terribly happy with the products. It showed how some people went the extra mile to come up with impressive pieces of work. So as a reward for their hard work, let me display the combination of both their hard work and creativity.
