A REUNION BETWEEN THE ROWS OF VESPA MOTORBIKES

5TH MARCH 2022 ~ An old friend of mine was on his Vespa tour, riding around Peninsular Malaysia. All the way from up north, Penang to be exact, the group traveled to Johor and one of the pit stops was Pulai Spring Resort where they would spend the night.

I was actually informed of his itinerary much earlier and I had to make sure I would be able to meet him, despite his very tight schedule. The last time we met was like 3 years ago when I went to Penang.

Too bad I couldn't even take him for a short coffee session. Nevertheless, it didn't matter the meeting lasted less than an hour, just under the trees between the rows of Vespa motorbikes. It was a pleasure to meet Mr. Asrulnizam one more time. We actually used to be roommates when we went for PMR Examination meetings a few times many, many years ago and we just cliqued and remain as friend.

Mr. Asrulnizam has now reached Terengganu. For sure, he is enjoying every moment of his tour on his Vespa and wishing him a safe journey back home real soon.

ANGKLUNG PERFORMANCE DURING SMK TMN UNIVERSITI'S GRADUATION CEREMONY

The Angklung Group was invited to perform during the Graduation Ceremony for the fifth formers of SMK Taman Universiti. This was the first time the group was asked to attend this grand event. It was held at Pulai Spring Resort.

Other than that, I had the opportunity to meet up with the students I taught and left when they were in form two. They are already leaving school - how time flies.

And of course, there were all my ex-colleagues too.

As for the Angklung Group, this was not our last performance of the year. We are looking forward to attending a carnival in Puteri Harbour by the end of next month.

waiting for the arrival of VIP

This time, we did not perform on stage as the stage was quite small to accommodate all the 16 of us. So we chose to stand at corner in front of the hall. No stage meant there was no stage fright and the angklung players were more relaxed.

We played a short song "Dia Datang" upon the arrival of the VIPs. Then we continued playing two more songs, "My Heart Will Go On" and a new number, "Kopi Dangdut".

We then performed a few songs while all the guests and award recipients (and their accompanying family members were eating). This time it was special as we were placed right on the first floor of the building (something like a balcony) overlooking the hall. It felt like conducting an orchestra in a huge theatre hall.

The other songs presented were "Selamat Tinggal Bungaku", "Autumn Leaves", "Ayam Den Lapeh", "Tajuk Johor" and "Terukir di Bintang."

That should be a good experience for everyone in the group who had started practising as early as the first week of January. I am hoping that everyone could make it for any future performance.

ANGKLUNG PERFORMANCE FOR UTMSPACE DEAN'S LIST AWARD CEREMONY [PART 1]

SMK Taman Universiti's Angklung Group was invited (again) to perform for the Dean's List Award Ceremony in conjunctions with UTM 58th Convocation. This time the event was held at Pulai Spring Golf Resort which is just near the school.

We were there as early as 10:00 a.m. for the rehearsal session. We were wearing our group's official t-shirt for the first time today. 

I am actually feeling sleepy and tired now and will need to get my beauty sleep real soon, so we will just see some photos during the rehearsal/practice session.
