THERE IS ALWAYS A SECOND TIME AT NUREEZA PINKY TOMYAM

After visiting a friend at Taman Nusantara [READ HERE], I contacted another friend who staying nearby whether he was free after work. I did not expect another gastronomic adventure was going to happen in the evening.

The chosen venue was Nureeza Pinky Tomyam Restaurant, selling cuisines of the East Coast of the Peninsular. It was my second time there; the first time happened last month [READ HERE]. The place was already filled with people eating dinner at 6:00 p.m. when we arrived. Guess this eating place was popular among the residents of Setia Eco Garden.

The food selection this time: Mee Celup.

I have to thank Mr. Ridzuan for spending his time for dinner even though he had just arrived home from work. Looking forward for more gastronomic adventures with him in the year 2026.

AFTER SCHOOL TEA SESSION WITH A RETIREE

18TH DECEMBER 2024    ~ Five ex-colleagues of SMK Dato' Jaafar had a tea session with a retiree after school, something that we used to do once in a while last time. The venue chosen was Wani Mee Celup which was near my house.

The whole thing lasted for about an hour and fifteen minutes, and the extra fifteen minutes was because of the sudden heavy downpour. Hope we could get to this again, next year probably.

THE SPONTANEOUS REUNION WITH AN EX-COLLEAGUE WHO CAME VISITING

The initial plan was to eat Mee Celuo with a colleague [of SMK Dato' Jaafar] Mr. Mohd. Aidil, at Wani Mee Celup Restaurant, which was near my house in the afternoon at about 4:00 p.m. Initially there were just the two of us there.

Suddenly someone announced his presence in town in the [all males staff] Whatsapp group and an impromptu get together was called at the current place where we were having our meal.

Mr. Mustaza bin Lamli then arrived, from school, with two other friends immediately after that.

It was good to get to see him who at present is teaching in Jitra, Kedah. This was the first time we saw him after he left SDJ 2 years ago [I think]. It was just a short meeting to update with mostly how life was for him up north and guess we need to have another meeting with Mr. Mustaza, which we hope will happen in the future.

THE EATING OUT SESSION AFTER SCHOOL CONTINUED

The place chosen for our activity after school was Wani Mee Celup which was very near to my place. We wanted to go to another stall serving the same food initially but it was not opened so we had to be happy with the alternative.

Tn. Hj. Abd. Karim who is now in SMK Majidee Baru 2 was also there to join the fun.

With three more weeks to go, I guess the highest probability to hang out after school will be three times. I don't know whether I am looking forward to the eating out sessions or the upcoming school break actually.

A SUPPER SESSION WITH COLLEAGUES

A supper session was set with a few male colleagues [of SMK Dato' Jaafar] right after Tewarikh Prayers [longer prayers done at night during the fasting month]. The chosen venue was Wani Mee Celup, which was near my house but it was my first time there. There was also someone who has already retired and a housemate of two colleagues who was no longer a stranger to us.

The signature dish of this place is its "Mee Celup" - noodles submerged in soup. Unfortunately, my Mee Celup, as well as my other friends', was too salty and I did not enjoy the food at all. In the end, I tried to eat the noodles without the soup.

The gathering had to be dismissed a few minutes after midnight. Hopefully no one had left his glass slipper after the clock struck 12.

It is good to get the chance to sit and chat once in a while with the group. Looking forward to the breaking fast gathering - and hope that will happen.

THE LAST EATING OUT SESSION FOR THE YEAR 2020

30th DECEMBER 2020 ~ There is this one popular stall very near to my house selling "Mee Celup" [translate: dipped noodles]. Basically it is noodles in soup, East Coast style. Many locals come to this place to eat and I was there with other colleagues and it was only my second time.

We were there during lunch hour and almost all the seats were taken.

I don't mind going back there again for its Mee Celup, and perhaps I need to check and try other food that is sold.
