THE CENDOL SESSION WITH THE PRINCIPAL

24th JUNE 2026 ~ A  date was set with an ex-colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, Mr. Amirulhakim, who is now the Principal of SMK Tun Syed Nasir Ismail, the school which is near my house. The chosen venue was Sofie Cendol at Taman Suria which was also nearby.

Cendol is a beloved, traditional Southeast Asian iced dessert. It is sweet, creamy, and incredibly refreshing, making it a staple treat in tropical countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand.

It was just a short Cendol session as he was on his lunch break period and had to get back to school by 2:00 p.m. Hopefully there will be other opportunity to meet up as he has a very busy schedule.

THE NATION WENT POLLING TODAY

The day Malaysians  have been waiting for - the 14th General Election. I had to vote at SMK Tun Syed Nasir Ismail, a 5-min walking distance from home. I decided to go in the afternoon based on the assumption the crowd would be bigger in the morning.

The weather was good (read: VERY HOT) and the heat must have burned all the calories and unnecessary fat walking to the voting centre and back. I was just hoping members of the competing parties would be stationed at the front gate - handing over bottled mineral water or ice-cream to supporters wannabe, but there were none.

Channel 3 - for those under 30 :)

There was still a queue but just a short one. Everything was over in about 10 minutes.

the evidence - and that is NOT my middle finger

I have done my responsibility as a Malaysian citizen and I have chosen the candidates whom I think would serve the community better. Even though I never like politic, I will still wait for the results of this year's election - hoping for the best for the country and its people.

THE 13th GENERAL ELECTION FOR MALAYSIA

Today was the day. Eligible Malaysians went out to cast their votes for the 13th General Election. Many went out early in the morning, while some chose to go a bit later. I belonged to the second group.

Everyone got really excited this rime round and I have never seen so many fingers being photographed and posted on Facebook.

no traffic jam
By 2:00 p.m., everything seemed to get back to normal. There was a primary school near my house which was one of the polling centres but there was no more traffic jam. I had to go to SMK Tun Syed Nasir Ismail which was slightly further, and it was a good decision not to go early in the morning. No queue whatsoever - everything was done in less than 10 minutes.

no queue

Let's just wait for the election result. However, I am thinking of sleeping early (or playing computer games, or read a novel) and when I wake up the next morning, I will get to know the verdict straight away minus the thrill and suspense. Being under stress  might not be good for the heart.

I have carried out my responsibility as a Malaysian,
what about you?

PLAYING CHESS AT A MAMAK RESTAURANT AFTER 10 PM

The chess fever is back! My friend, Mr. Aziz, asked me to join him and his students for a chess practice at a nearby mamak restaurant. They are from SMK Tun Syed Nasir Ismail, formerly known as SMK Majidi Baru. They are working very hard for the coming chess competiton at district level this Saturday. When I thought my students come to school on Sunday mornings to play chess is already a big sacrifice, some people even go another extra mile. It was a short session but I think this was better than chit-chatting over teh tarik and roti canai.

So my students, our next chess team meeting will be at KFC Taman Universiti, 8:00 p.m. until midnight. Can?
