JUDGING DISTRICT LEVEL CHORAL SPEAKING COMPETITION

The Choral Speaking Competition for Johor Bahru District was held today at SMK Damansara Alif. I was there with Puan Jamiah Zainal and Mr. Bobby Chan to judge the choral speakers from 18 participating schools.

Listening to and observing to 18 competing teams was not an easy task. I was already having a migraine while judging and thank God, most of teams finished their performances earlier than the allocated time. I think I should just stick to Public Speaking competitions after this.

Luckily, the unbearable headache was cured soon enough by eating a buffet lunch at Seoul Garden Plaza Angsana, a treat given by Mr. Haiqal Johari. All's well that ends well. :)

FINALLY AND OFFICIALLY RETIRED

thumb-printing for the very last time

Finally, the time has come for Puan A'liah Hussein to officially retire from the teaching profession today. And she has now vacated the seat of the Senior Assistant of the Afternoon Session at SMK Mutiara Rini.

Even though I have had lost a very dear friend for many short but regular gossip sessions in school, I am actually very happy for her as this could be the best decision she has made for herself. And hopefully, we will be seeing each other again (in a bigger group) some other time in the future.

May Puan A'liah Hussein enjoy her retirement days ahead to the fullest. And we will plan for more eating and gossiping sessions for next year.

ATTENDING A BRIEFING IN KLUANG

Tuesday, 20th August ~ I had to attend a state level briefing held at SJKC Chong Hwa, Kluang this afternoon. This was something that rarely happened. All this while, only the other senior assistants would be called for this kind of thing. Anyway, it had something to do with the implementation of English set system for the lower secondary (which is already carried out in school) and the briefing was given by the officer of the English language from the State Education Department.

I was really impressed with the auditorium of this Chinese primary school. One word to describe it: GRAND. When are we getting one like this for our school? *sigh*

The whole thing ended less than 2 hours. The irony was, I had to spend more time travelling JB-Kluang-JB than sitting there listening to the briefing. *double sigh*

On my way there, while stopping at R&R Machap, I bumped into the FIRST Principal of SMK Taman Universiti. The last time I saw him when he was on duty as an oath commissioner but he is now enjoying his retirement days at home full time. I will have to wait many many more years before I can retire. *third sigh*

MEETING FOR SENIOR ASSISTANT OF THE AFTERNOON SESSION

The last time I attended a meeting like this was like two years ago. We don't have meetings like we used to do which should be a blessing in disguise. Nevertheless, it will always be a pleasure to see other senior assistants from other schools to exchange latest updates and gossips. Finally, a meeting was called today at SMK Sri Rahmat. There were quite a number of new faces but we didn't have much time to mingle around. The whole thing ended after lunch and there will be another discussion for this group next week.

WHILE OTHERS WERE HAVING FUN...

While my other friends gathered in one of the hotels for the school's annual lunch, there was another seminar to be attended. And this time, the event was organized by the Johor Bahru Senior Assistant for the Afternoon Session group and the others of the same post from Johor state were invited to sit with us throughout the day. It was heldat SJKC Pu Sze. Since we were the organizer, we had to do some work and I was again in charge of photography which I hate. This means I will not be in most of the photos.

..... but still, I have to be in the photos.
