ANGKLUNG PERFORMANCE FOR JOHOR INTERNATIONAL YOUTH FORUM 2018

15th APRIL 2018 ~ SMK Taman Universiti's Angklung Group was invited to perform during the closing ceremony of Johor International Youth Forum organised by and held at SMK Tasek Utara, Johor Bahru.

We happily accepted the invitation as we had already started practicing since January. In fact, we were excited to get the chance to perform outside school and this was our second time going out.

This was an international event as there were participants from other countries like Indonesia.

I have to thank a friend of mine, Puan Rashida Ali, for recommending us to the organizing committee as without her, this would not even be possible. Later I will have to give her a treat at McCafe.

And the practice sessions for the Angklung Group will resume after this. There is still a lot to improve and we have to try and play other songs as well. And hoping to get new musical notes of a few new songs from our angklung maestro from Solo, Indonesia.

PMR SEMINAR - SMK TASEK UTARA

I went to conduct another PMR seminar in SMK Tasek Utara yesterday. (It was SMK Kempas the day before but couldn't get my photo taken there) I have been one of the regular speakers at that school for a few years already. I get regular invitations from schools and at times I think it is because either they like me or they do not have any other choice for guest speakers.

The trial exam is just around the corner so there are just too many invitations that at times I get confused of my own schedule. I need an organizer or a PA.

MSSM JOHOR BAHRU UNDER 12 CHESS COMPETITION

I went to SMK Tasek Utara to help other friends organize under 12 chess competition. It was a blessing in disguise because there was another event that I had to attend but it would only involve sitting down and observing (and making endless comments, most probably).

with an ex-student, Syahida, who was one of our best chess players
now teaching in SK Tampoi Utama

with the chess teachers

Everything was just the usual thing. However, these primary school children played chess real fast. They could finish the games in such a short time. The competition ended quite late so the next meeting with my friends in the chess team will be in the coming state competition (but no dates have been mentioned so far).
