THERE IS ALWAYS A FIRST TIME AT TEBING BANDAR DATO' ONN

Mr. Syazwan Shavarein [an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti] was in town. We decided to meet up for supper at place called Tebing in Bandar Dato' Onn, the first time for both of us. Mr. Syazwan was home to take care of his father who was warded in the hospital nearby.

We just bought drinks from the food court there and Mr. Syazwan had the snacks packed for us.

We then walked around the place where there were food stalls and people enjoying their food in the open. There were still a lot of people at 10:00 p.m. even though it would be a working day the next day.

We bade "goodbye" to each other after that as Mr. Syazwan needed to get back to his father. Hoping to see him again some other time when he is back in JB.

THE 20TH DAY OF EID 1443H

The first visitors to arrive for Eid today was Mr. Masrizal Sayute, an ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti, and his wife and children. He is currently teaching in SMK Gelang Patah after being promoted as the Head of Department. They used to be 8 people in the family but the other four have now either working or have left the nest.

In the afternoon, I made my way to an open house invitation of an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Azry Anuardy, in Bandar Baru Kangkar Pulai. Everybody seemed to be hosting and/or attending open houses or wedding receptions today. Hence, the very heavy traffic on the highway.

The next open house invitation was located in Bandar Dato' Onn which was hosted by a colleague of SMK Dato' Jaafar, Puan Rafidatul Shuib. There, I met three ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti, so it felt like a school reunion. Surprising Puan Rafidatul's husband was also in SMK Taman Universiti for one month before moving away to other boarding school.

Then, I drove to Taman Rinting in Pasir Gudang, to another open house invitation. The hosts, both husband and wife, are my colleagues of SMK Dato' Jaafar, Mr. Che Lotfi Roni and Puan Norsapiah Omar. Mr. Principal and his wife were also there when I arrived.

If you think that was the end of the Eid eating spree that you are wrong. I stopped by at another colleague's house in Taman Sierra Perdana which is luckily just nearby the previous house visited. Mr. Ahmad Ridzuan Mohamad and his wife were kind enough to invite me over.

Actually, I also attended a wedding reception of a neighbour's before going to the first open house.

One thing for sure, I have successfully grown fatter now and with nine more days to go, I think there are still chances to eat more.

WHERE THERE IS A WILL...

My colleague and I went to visit another colleague who had just lost her daughter this morning. By the time we left the cemetery, it was already lunch time. As this Morso Restaurant was just in the vicinity, Mr. Amirulhakim and I decided to stop by as the school canteen would already be closed by time we got back there.

There were other four diners in the restaurant so we managed to get our lamb chop real quick. Food was good and lunch was over in less than half an hour. It was my third time at this eating place and I am glad I had introduced this place to Mr. Amirulhakim Mahfudz who is also an avid gastronomic adventurer. I am about to see whether he would be coming back to Morso again after this or not.

MR. BIG BAD WOLF IS BACK IN TOWN

9th APRIL 2021 ~ I needed to get something from AEON Bandar Dato' Onn and someone I met earlier mentioned that there was the Big Bad Wolf Book Fair held at the same venue. I had to stop by and see if there would be anything to get hold of but I kept reminding myself that I still had books at home which had remained untouched for quite some time.

The Book Fair was held at the Food Court area which is now no longer operating [because of the C-19 Pandemic].

The temptation was too great to resist so I went home with just 5 books which cost me slightly over RM50. I successfully returned back a few books and chose the ones that I think I would read. Or perhaps the ones that I would read later when I have retired. 😊

A BELATED BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION AT THE MORSO

It was time to celebrate a friend's birthday after one year long of no-celebrate birthday gathering because of the C-19 pandemic. We chose to go back to The Morso, the restaurant we went to a few weeks ago, because we liked the food and wanted to try the cakes.

As usual, the food was good but the company of friends was the best of all. Hopefully we could continue celebrating others' birthdays this year. The most important thing, the birthday girl looked happy with the simple but significant celebration (she said this) which involved mostly eating and gossiping.

As I was about to leave the place, I met three people, ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti, Ms. Dyana and her sisters - the same people I met at the same venue the first time I came here two weeks ago but this time minus the mother. This was real a coincidence and guess we were all surprised. Guess we shared the same favourite restaurant now. 😀

HAVING DINNER AT THE MORSO FOR THE FIRST TIME

26th MARCH 2021 ~ The main purpose of the outing today was to visit a friend at her house in Bandar Dato' Onn. To kill two birds with one stone, I asked Mr. Mohd. Khir and Puan Mazzeline to  stop by at The Morso for our early dinner on our way back home.

There restaurants had two separate shops - the air-conditioned and without. To get into the cooler shop, we had to queue up outside but luckily, the line was not long. We were welcomed into the restaurant less than 10 minutes.

FIRST ROUND: we ordered the food tray which contained chicken and lamb chops, salad, fries, meat balls and sausages, and garlic bread with mushroom soup.

We found that the food was tasty and the tray was not big enough so we were ready to order the second round.

SECOND ROUND: Spicy Oglio Olio Spaghetti and Fish and Chips.

Luckily I did not get any tempting cakes from the counter as we were so full but we were contented with the food we order. There is always a next time for the cakes.

And as I was about to leave the place, I heard someone calling my name. There were my ex-students [of SMK Taman Universiti] and their mother having their dinner there too.

Thanks Mr. Mohd. Khir and Puan Mazzelina for the great time, admiring the decor of the restaurant and most importantly, enjoying the food served on the table. We sure will not mind coming back to The Morso again one fine day with other friends.
