VISITING THE CAT MEOWSEUM IN GEORGETOWN - PART ONE

16TH DECEMBER 2022 ~ The place was originally a double-storey shophouse that was converted into an art gallery with the owner still staying in at one part of the house. To get into the Meowseum, one would have to ring the doorbell and the owner would tell you this place was an art gallery, not a petting zoo kind of place.

There was a big sign on the door that stated children were not allowed into Meowseum which was kind of strange at first. However, I managed to have a small chat with the owner before leaving there were valid reasons why he did that in the first place.

There was everything about cats that you could find there, under one roof. Paintings, big statues of all sizes, masks, prints on mugs, dresses, umbrellas, lanterns - just name it, you get it.

My first impression: how could someone have such a huge collection of cat related items.

VISITING THE PERANAKAN HOUSE IN GEORGETOWN

16TH DECEMBER 2022   ~ The first attraction visited once I arrived in Georgetown was the Peranakan House. I was there at about 10 something in the morning and I was the first to arrive though.

Depicting the typical home of a rich Baba of more than a century ago, this opulent of those locally acculturated Chinese is recreated in the Pinang Peranakan Mansion to offer a glimpse of their many customs and tradition.
More than just  Baba-Nyonya museum, this century-old stately mansion of eclectic design and architecture incorporates Chinese carved wood panels with English floor tiles and Scottish iron-works. Built at the end of 19th century by one of local history's famous personalities, the "Hai Kee Chan" or Sea Remembrance Store had once served as the residence and office of Kapitan Cina Chung Keng Kwee.

This was the chance to get transported to experience the lives of the rich and famous, when everything in the house was possible with you are filthy rich.

SMK DATO' JAAFAR'S ANNUAL HIGH TEA EVENT

It was time to attend the another annual school event. This year's hi-tea was held at Grand Al-Mizan Restaurant in town.

The chosen team was Malaysian Tradition and most of the academic and non-academic staff of SMK Dato' Jaafar came to the event with their special costume and attire.

The food was super delicious, [NOTE: it is not necessary to hold an event at a hotel for good food] and everybody enjoyed themselves very much. This should mark the end of the school session for the year 2022/2023 and school will officially break for another long holiday in two weeks.
