HAVING DINNER AT LAZY MONDAY ON SATURDAY

10th DECEMBER 2022   ~ My first impression of this place when I saw the flight of steep stairs going uphill was this is definitely not for the elderly and those who have difficulty walking.

It was Saturday and I did not feel lazy but we went to eat at this restaurant called Lazy Monday.

The restaurant looked modern and expensive.

We came here to get our burgers for dinner. Everything about the food was delicious but the salty/sweet fried onion in the filling was something I did not agree.

This should be a good place to hang out with friends but be ready to spend more when you eat here. Thanks Mr. Solihin, an ex-student of Asrama Semai Bakti Felda, for the dinner companion this evening.

HAVING WOODFIRE BURGER FOR DINNER/SUPPER

2nd February 2022 ~ A dinner/supper date was set at the last minute as someone wanted to pass to me the "Keropok Lekor" and fish crackers he got me from Terengganu. Initially we wanted to go to this one place near Larkin Bomba but the stalls were closed so we simply opted for Woodfire Burger.

The burger was delicious and the food was gobbled down in no time. I think we spent more time waiting for the food to be served than eating it.

Thanks Mr. Solihin Ramli for the "keropok" from Terengganu and for the company. We should do this more often.

EATING OUT BEFORE THE SCHOOL REOPENS AFTER THE CNY BREAK

It is the last day of the 5-day school break for the Chinese New Year. The biggest achievement for me during the holiday: to be able to eat out twice before school reopens.

This time, my late lunch consisted of huge burger and onion rings at Woodfire located at Taman Suria, which is near my house. Mr. Afif Farhan, an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, was my partner in crime this time.

It was great to get the chance to chat again after not being able to dine in. Hoping to get to see more people and more food outside after this.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - WOODFIRE'S NEW PLACE

Someone wanted to have a burger for lunch and who was I to disagree. Mr. Syazwan Shavarein suggested going to Woodfire where homemade, juicy, huge burgers are served. Since there was a new branch which had been opened at Bukit Indah so I suggested we go there to check it out.

The new restaurant is located in Millisime Hotel building, somewhere near Bukit Indah area. When we arrived, the place was full with people although it was already 3:00 p.m. However, service was fast and the place was more comfortable (and air-conditioned) than the first one in Taman Suria.

Lunch was done faster than the time spent waiting. Everything was good and we were happy with the burgers we had. Thanks Mr. Syazwan for the company for lunch and please make sure the next gastronomic adventure will happen soon.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - WOODFIRE REVISITED

I was invited to join an ex-student and ex-colleague for a burger treat at Woodfire. Guess more people are eager to try the western food at this latest eating place in town which has been made viral by the social media.

I was there at about 5.30 p.m. and there was still a long queue forming in front of the counter. However, it was still bearable as the food was ready faster than the first time I came here. Furthermore, I did not have to queue up to make the order.

And finishing up the food on the table was way much faster than waiting to be called to pick up the order.

Thanks Mr. Mohd. Amin Shamsudin [SPM batch 2011] for the treat and as well as Puan Yusidah Md. Yusof for the time and company, both an ex-student and ex-colleague of SMK Taman Universiti. The other person was a student of the school whom I just met for the first time, Miss Ainul.

Guess whether will I be coming back for more Woodfire?

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - WOODFIRE BURGER

The latest food craze eating spot had been opened and luckily someone had agreed to give it a try. It is located at the food court in Taman Suria, opposite Giant Hypermart which is very near to my house.

I arrived there at about 8:20 p.m. and there was already a long queue forming in front of the counter. After the order had been made and paid, one would get the number and have to wait for his turn. And by 8.45 p.m., the stall was already out of food and the counter was closed for order.

If you are wondering, how long did we have to wait for our food, it was about one hour and fifteen minutes. We were told  (by someone reliable) there was some sort of technical matter  in the kitchen which had caused the delay.

It was worth all the wait nevertheless. The burger was something to die for. You could also get other western food here like steaks.

It was past the business hour when a kitchen staff, who happened to be an ex-student of SMK Taman Universiti, Mr. Muhammad Zul Helmie, came out from the stall. We managed to chat for a short while before we made our way back home.

I must thank Mr. Zharfan Amir [SPM batch 2011] for the dinner treat at Woodfire. We shall meet again in the upcoming outing, and it will  be my turn next.

MY HOMETOWN GASTRONOMIC ADVENTURE - TRYING WENDY'S BURGER

I had been eyeing this fast food restaurant at Paradigm Mall and today, finally, I stepped in to try its food for the first time. So I chose the Beefanator Burger and also the set which contained large drinks and fries.

My verdict: THE burger to die for. Thick cheesy burger patty with crispy salami that would make you feel happy for many hours without any other food. I think my company for lunch after Friday prayer, Mr. Nazafee [SMKTUN SPM batch 2017], would have to agree with me. I will definitely come back again for the same particular burger, or should I try other food on the menu?

THE INTERESTING STORY BEHIND ALL THIS: As I was about to pay for my food by handing over my card to the cashier, the girl told me it was all paid for. I was a bit lost and was really confused how could that even be possible. And then, I took the courage to ask the man who also standing behind the counter whether he was my ex-student. He looked really familiar but I did not have the courage say "hi" first as I might mistake him for someone else.

I really have to thank Mr. Zul [SMKTUN SPM batch 2003] for the treat and for making my first visit to Wendy's an unforgettable one. Hope to see you again at the restaurant, but I will be paying so do not worry. May Allah repay your kindness.
