"MOREH" SESSION AT McDONALD's

*MOREH - a late meal taken after the "terawikh" prayers at night in the month of Ramadhan.

20th MAY 2019 ~ McDonald's Malaysia was giving away vouchers for free McChicken or Fillet-O-Fish to all teachers in conjunction with this year's Teacher's Day celebration. I thought I was the only one who was yet to get the free meal but luckily there was also someone else. Eventually we managed to get the vouchers redeemed just at the eleventh hour. Literally speaking, we were there at about 11:00 p.m., before the offer became obsolete.

As expected, there were not many people at McDonald's Pandan near the wet market so we could sit and chat comfortably, before the clock struck twelve and the chariot turned back into a pumpkin.

Thanks again McDonald's Malaysia for the special gift on Teacher's Day. I have never felt so special and appreciated like this before.

MY TEACHER'S DAY BOUQUET ARRIVED LATE IN SCHOOL

A delivery girl arrived in school - carrying a chocolate/flower bouquet for Teacher's Day - better late than never kind of thing. It was a surprise that happened once in a million years (even though I was already informed by the delivery girl herself she would be in school for delivery the night before). My heartiest thanks to Ms. Khaulah Abd. Rahim and Ms. Safia Ebi Shahrin, ex-students of SMK Taman Universiti SPM batch 2006, for the kind and thoughtful gesture. Only Allah may repay their good deed in this holy month of Ramadhan.

AN OUTING AND A TREAT FOR TEACHERS' DAY

Someone was telling that he did not have the time to go buy me a present for Teachers' Day. Instead, he wanted to give me a treat during an outing. Did I have a choice to say "no"?

Some people have little money so they give small presents. Some people have a bit more so they give bigger ones. However, some people they just don't care. THANKS Syazwan for the treat, you are one of the people who has made me think life as a teacher is not that bad after all.

THANKS ALIF AND ARIF

Please focus on the presents

This posting is to thank the two brothers: Alif and Arif for their kind thoughts. They dropped by at school this evening (with the other family members) just to say "hi" and to deliver the presents which I guessed were for Teacher's Day. Even though they are no longer in school, but we still keep in touch, especially Arif. And at the same time, Arif will be going to UiTM Kuantan for his Law Matriculation course next week, so I guess this was also to say "goodbye". I wish Arif the very best of luck and the same goes to Alif who has still one more year to go for his Polytechnic's Diploma course.

Thanks again. I am really touched by your kind gestures.

By the way, you can read Arif's blog here http://life-versus-death.blogspot.com/

THREE-IN-ONE

Too many things, too little time. As a result, we had three events in one go and everything was done in just within five hours time. And I still could not get over the exhaustion from the stadium the night before and yet had to rush to school in the morning.

EVENT 1: TAHLIL IN CONJUNCTION WITH TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATION

Organized by the Staff Room Club, this session was held with definitely good hope in mind, in conjunction with the Teacher's Day celebration that is on the 16th May. First, there was a short tazkirah (talk) given by Mr. Rifqi which was then followed by the recitation of the Yasin verse and a short prayer.

...actually there was more than this

Eventually, food which was supposed to be breakfast was served, but in abundance. Everybody then moved on to the next activity where students were involved.

EVENT 2: GOTONG-ROYONG ACTIVITY

Gotong-royong
- an activity in which everybody should lend a helping hand voluntarily. This time it was only done to clean and beautify the classrooms. This was actually done in conjunction (again) with the Teacher's Day and it was actually an instruction given by the Ministry of Education. Well, what a way to celebrate Teacher's Day, of all the things on planet earth. The time allocated was quite short as there was one more session for teachers to attend.

EVENT 3: IN-HOUSE TRAINING

Actually the English Panitia had one in-house training session already and this one was the continuation of the last one as we could not finish one part of the training. It was more of a hands-on session, so everybody was actively involved right until the end.

meals of the day

As usual, we had food awaiting as a reward for our hard work. We had Domino pizzas this time and fried chicken prepared by Puan Umi Kalsom. So as you can see, food plays a dominant role in people's life. Serve delicious food and everybody will be happy. And that was the end of a tiring day in school and I am already looking forward for a break from school, soon.

TEACHER'S DAY CELEBRATION IN SCHOOL

Love them or hate them, they are just everywhere...

Teacher's Day was celebrated on a Monday, 18th May this year. The same old routine was being repeated, wish for once we would have something different. Nevertheless, it was truly an enjoyable day. There was no need to enter class or to scold people and frankly speaking, the students' performances were fun and entertaining. 'Tis the time to be jolly, so let's see some happy faces in school.

form one boys, still shy shy...

form two girls, shyness at moderate level
bomba boys, no shy

dancers from china

Thanks to everyone who had made this day a memorable one. Those who were present, the well-wishers, entertainers and last but not least, the present-givers, I love you all. Really, it's the thought that counts. I am in a real need to buy a new display cabinet for my teacher's day's gifts.

I am famous!

16th MAY IS HERE AGAIN!

Happy 16th teacher's day to me and to other teachers out there. Thank you to the short messaging service, messages started coming in as early as yesterday. As I have nothing much to do, I am now making a statistical analysis of the teacher's day messages I received this year, so as to make my blog sound more scientific.

  • messages sent by ex-students: 22
  • messages sent by students: 11
  • messages sent by teachers: 12
  • messages sent by others: 2
The conclusion that can be drawn here is: (1) You are appreciated more by your ex-es. That is life. Don't people say they appreciate things more when they are gone? (2) Teachers need to send greetings to each other more because who else will appreciate you other than the people who understand you. (3) Other people just don't give a damn. By the way, I don't send teacher's day messages, I just replied to all the messages received from people I know. Messages from unidentified sources are not analyzed so as to make the result of this study more valid. In other words, I am famous.
While other teachers were enjoying themselves at home or somewhere else, my friends and I were stuck in UTM enjoying ourselves in a training session held by the school. Happy teacher's day again, especially to my friends of the dying breed.
